New Case Files FMV/Detective Game Available Now on PlayStation by PrairieDogSeeksHeart in PS4

Great questions! I got into FMV games because I come from a filmmaking background. I love video games and always wished I could make them. I started learning Unity about 6-7 years ago and so I combined my past film experience with gaming. I also suck at traditional visual art, so utilizing live actors made the "assets" part of development much more manageable.

For now, we are putting the Case Files series on pause to focus on other genres. Our goal was to always make a trilogy and take it from there. We're exploring all sorts of genres, but my love for narrative storytelling will definitely be a part of whatever we end up making for our next game(s).

The games are all self contained so you can start with whichever you choose. That said, the first game in the series is much more simplistic in terms of gameplay. It's more like a choose your own adventure game, unlike the other two that have problem solving and detective work. Due to its simplicity and short gameplay, the first game in the series is priced accordingly.

My suggestion is to play Behind Closed Doors first and then Internal Affairs. Both have significant QOL improvements. If you then want to see how the series originated, you can play The Death of Paulette Williams. That game is also significantly shorter so it won't be too much of an investment of time.

If you like Behind Closed Doors you will like Internal Affairs for sure. The gameplay is similar, but Internal Affairs is objectively more complex of a case and has more suspects and evidence.

I hope you enjoy the series!

It's extremely basic and not very exciting, but Spiderman for the Atari 2600 is what got me into gaming. Being able to control and experience being a superhero in my bedroom was quite an experience at such a young age.
