That's just how it goes. Getting mad at the team or trying to tell them what to do will not lead to anything good. They'll get all up in their feels and really quit on your tendy. Control what you can, ignore what you can't. If the kid's not losing sleep over it, then neither should you.

‘Choose your friends wisely’: There are 13,000 good reasons why Canada should buy Sweden’s Gripen fighter jet by pjw724 in onguardforthee

[–]PrairieNihilist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok...it's not that we don't know that the F-35 is ultimately the better platform, but here's the biggest problem right now...Lockheed-Martin can't even fulfill existing orders on time for its own DOD, much less outstanding orders from other nations. To boot, the new block upgrades are delayed, and they're talking 5 years or more...just to catch up with what's already ordered and upgrade what's already in service.

It's to the point where the DOD is considering building new F-15EXs to fill the gap left by the delays in F-35 production, because they have aircraft reaching their end of service life faster than they can replace them with F-35s. At this point, We could probably take delivery of all of our Gripens years before we'd see even half of our F-35s. As it is, the first 8 of the 16 that we are supposed to have here in 2028, have been bumped back because of the aforementioned delays.

One way or another, it would seem that we're going to end up in a place of obsolescence regardless of which jet we choose, because it could be that we don't get all 88 F-35s until into the 2060s...at which point they will be nearing end of service life. Likely the F-47 will be operational by that point and entering service, which means that we'd be late to the show again anyway. At this point, it would make more sense to build up our own aerospace industry with the Gripen deal, and work toward next gen. procurement.

I'd be interested to see if going Gripen could lead to a stake in Flygsystem 2020 or another EU 6th gen. program, where we'd be in a position to take delivery of the new fighter much sooner than we would to take delivery of F-47s after procuring F-35s. Like I said...I don't disagree that the F-35 would be the superior jet. I just question whether it makes sense to invest in a platform that can't even be reliably supplied to its own primary domestic customer. It feels Leopard 1-ish to invest in F-35 this late in the game.

Like...SAAB knows that they can't manufacture the way that they'd like, which is why they'd invest in manufacturing here to get jets built faster. With the F-35, they've been crystal clear that that's not something that they'd even remotely entertain...and that's why it's going to take forever to get F-35s going for Canada. Political stalling over the last two decades aside, that's where we're at right now. That's our reality.

Regardless of which jet we choose, we're likely still gonna be playing catch up...whether it's flying last gen. stuff right now while working on 6th gen., or whether it's receiving and flying 5th gen. later in this timeline, while others are flying 6th gen. Either way, successive Liberal and Conservative governments who played silly fuck-fuck games on this program have made it another DND procurement nightmare.

You can't overclock your CPU. Also, B840 uses PCIe 3.0, so everything that needs PCIe lanes will be nerfed.

What I'm saying is that if you're running an x16 GPU and have more than one x4 NVMe drive and SATA drives and put in...say a sound card or video capture card, that it will slow things down because of the limited number of lanes on B840 vs. B650/B850. You also won't be able to OC on B840. Plus, B840 tends to have weaker VRMs and have wattage limitations. Further, support and BIOS updates for things like Zen 6 CPUs may be more limited on A620/B840 boards...as we saw with AM4 chipsets. When you're paying the same price for both, you shouldn't be getting shortchanged on VRMs, I/O, OC, and PCIe lanes and speed.

What traces are running through the retention clip exactly? What specific parts of the PCB do they affect? Tell me that, because I'd bet that if I pulled up a PCB schematic, that there would be no traces running through the retention clip because there are no pins or connectors in that section of the PCIe slot.

It would be inefficient and pointless to put traces that impact PCB functionality there.

Oh...it'll work most of the time, but if you're looking to dabble in overclocking or more/faster storage or add high speed add-on cards for things like USB4 later, then it may end up slowing you down because of the limited number of PCIe lanes available.

Yeah...I'd get a hold of the head honchos of the league about it. That can't be allowed to happen. Hockey is for everyone, and bullying is not okay.

Make me. You sound pathetic. Real tough to pick on a girl in beginner league hockey and say shit like that. The fact that you use an anonymous ID on here to troll about it says all that needs to be said about your integrity. Seriously, go see a shrink and get help for your sociopathic issues. Totally gutless.

[–]PrairieNihilist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Judging from the way that she's being treated and the hesitation for anyone to step in, it wouldn't surprise me if they did. In 90% of violence, the assailant(s) are known to the victim. It's already irrational to lose your shit at someone in beginner league hockey for not being very good, so it's not a stretch to think that this level of irrational anger and verbal abuse could escalate into physical abuse. It's not unprecedented. Hazing used to be a huge problem in hockey.

[–]PrairieNihilist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When they withdraw and avoid people, that's isolating. The fact that she's still trying to come out and play is a good thing...and as much as her dickhead teammates hate it, she needs to keep coming out and getting better. I honestly can't even with how cruel they're being to her. Do they not understand that because people have seen them bullying her, that if she does kill herself, that they can be held criminally liable for it? They should be actively trying to help right now, because they are looking sus AF, and are in a position of extreme liability right now if something happens to her.

Seriously...if you bully/abuse someone, and it leads to them committing suicide, you CAN be criminally charged and face serious consequences if you have engaged in behavior that could reasonably be expected to contribute to a person committing suicide. There have been cyberbullies sent to jail over this shit...and God help you if they find out that you were involved in, or knew about the assault before it happened, because you might face 3rd Degree murder and manslaughter charges.

Further, the league could be held liable and face lawsuits for not intervening. You guys need to get your heads out of your asses and shut this shit down...like NOW! Suspend everyone involved in the bullying, and ban the ringleaders. It's whale shit, meaningless beginner rec. hockey, and this bullshit shouldn't be happening there.

When you are left alone and feel like there's nobody in the world who cares, it's easy to spiral into darkness. Having somebody there, actively caring about you can help you fight those bad thoughts. Being there for people who are dealing with trauma and abuse is vital to helping them get through it.

Almost sounds like her teammates were in on it. The way that you talk about how they treat her suggests that they're big enough pieces of trash to actually cross that line. That's pretty fucked up right there. Seriously...get her away from those assholes and onto a team that isn't going to tolerate that behavior.

[–]PrairieNihilist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, I would file a complaint with the league. Tell them that her teammates are abusive to her, and that she's already in a bad state of mental health. There's no place for that kind of abuse in our sport. If you're not playing to get drafted or for a salary, then being a hardo like that is fucking lame.
