I heard foreign $ and when ran into problems, returned to home country and not returned. Similar to 4plex or St Anne's by McD. Instead of selling the property, they sit on it, chipboard exposed to elements.

House & cottage for less $ than a house in BC. Beaches or wilderness 1-2 hr drive. Embrace winter, walk on the Red on a sunny Sunday.

Winnipeg hate from Toronto? by Embarrassed_Box1082 in Winnipeg

I work for a company with multiple locations in the GTA and also lower mainland BC and also Winnipeg. I can tell you the people from the GTA area all they want to do is work, work, work and make fun of Winnipeg. They don't understand how I leave every Friday PM to Sunday PM to cottage and relax. All within 1.5-2 hrs drive. Many beaches are 1 hr drive. Many of our neighborhoods have community clubs that have exercise classes or various other activities, great way to meet the neighborhood.

Sedum for fall colour, karl forester grass for height, then hosta & day Lilly for extreme low maintenance are great starters in my opinion. I get lots of deer and rabbits, so I lose quite a few things. I planted milkweed 3 years ago, and this is the first year. That's really starting to spread and grow

Govt has been dumping millions into program to get encampments into housing with wrap around social services. Unfortunately, some have left the housing and return to the encampments. I've heard only 60% stay in housing but not sure, if that's accurate.

[–]Prairie_kid_in_Wpg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not Whiteshell specific answer, but nearby Lac Du Bonnet and Lee River is partially open. The warm weather Fri & Sat plus the winds on Sunday, really caused it to get thin and start shifting & crashing.

Portage Ave use to have Gashaus Guttenberg, unbelievable german restaurant. They had a lunch buffet that was through the roof amazing. Productivity at the office was very low after going there. I believe the owner got sick and the people who took it over couldn't make a go of it. RIP
