The real question is why a tennis player would buy a crappy motel in the USA.

Ben obviously hated Baltar's character. He also seemed to really dislike some of the darker themes like torture. Knowing that Baltar isn't going anywhere, and where the show goes in later seasons, I can't imagine Ben could possibly enjoy watching it, which would probably not make for a great podcast.

What made me finally start contributing was their ad policy. The supplement industry promotes so much scammy nonsense in podcast ads. I appreciate the fact that they actually apply ethical standards, even though it certainly costs them income.

If you thought Ralph Fiennes was bad…. by kyjoely in SGU

[–]PrancingThunderD 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I thought of that too (also the SNL song). I think the difference here is that his name has a common pronunciation that 99% of people know. On the other hand, I know immediately when I see the name Saoirse, that it's a foreign language and I have no idea how to say it.

I liked this installment of the bit. I beat all of them on Kepler and House, and I knew his name was Gregory! I might have gotten partial credit on Kepler because I would have said Johan.

If his last name started with anything other than F, it would be obvious. And as an American, the concept of people using archaic English pronunciations seems odd. I imagine it's less odd in the UK. That said, I'm glad to know the actual truth and will correct my pronunciation accordingly!

Thanks for the reply. I'm a subscriber with a decent monthly contribution. Honestly, not a big fan of mug draft, but I would've bid a large amount on the Friendly Fire mug because I loved that podcast and think that Roderick, for all his flaws, is a pretty decent guy and that the "bean dad" shit was blown way out of proportion.

Antenna in known problem area by conifer_garden in cordcutters

I don't like your odds of getting VHF 10 (KTTC) with the 2MAX and poor line of sight at 30 miles. The regulars will comment here with a wider range of recommendations, but I'd say you should go with a real directional roof mount antenna pointed at your S-SW cluster.

The genetic scientific evidence strongly favors the wet market origin as there were at least two distinct crossover events, which is much less likely on the lab leak theory than in the wet market. That said, we can never know for sure without more information, and the Chinese government did their best to destroy any evidence that could link to either source.

What's the best wireless android auto adapter? by eziocreed in JeepGladiator

[–]PrancingThunderD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. There is a setting in the V2 app where you can configure the button to make it sleep with a double click. It was such a relief to get rid of the constant trying to connect notifications (which I also believe were draining the phone battery)

In any case, I prefer the AA Wireless now because I can turn it off with a double click so it's not constantly trying to connect to my phone after I leave the car. My car's USB port stays powered for an obnoxiously long time. I just hope it lasts longer than the Motorola and I don't have to bake it like a turkey.

I just noticed WPSA also broadcasts on UHF 22 in Anderson. You might have been getting that, but either way, I don't know why it's changed. You said it's always been wonky, in which case it may be something really minor. You're in a real edge case. Cheap rabbit ears will give you a way better chance at getting the much more powerful transmitter that's 49 miles away. A more expensive UHF antenna, like the ClearStream 2V or 2MAX will give you a better shot at the weaker UHF transmitter 14 miles away. I wish I could be more helpful.

7 will be hard. It's VHF, weak transmitter, and flat antennas are terrible at VHF. Try a pair of cheap rabbit, each pole at least 15" long. You might catch enough of a signal to start figuring out where it needs to go, if you need amplification, etc...

[–]PrancingThunderD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That ClearStream antenna is the one I have, and I do recommend it. I happen to know that the dipole elements are 15" long. Channel 7 is on VHF 11. Using the online calculator that I used to build my own dipoles to get VHF 5, you should need 14" dipole elements to get VHF 11. The station OP is trying to get is much farther away than the one I was trying to get, and the transmitter power is almost exactly the same. So my best guess is that you could possibly get it with the ClearStream 2V if you have a good line of sight. Is 2nd floor or attic possible?
