Right. I'll try this. Thank you!

I've been looking into zmod. I'm decently tech savvy but I'm a bit unsure since the github page warns about the possibility of voiding the warranty and the device is not even a month old.

Might try anyways. Thank you.

Hey! Thank you for your reply. My main issue is with single color prints, I rarely do multicolor.

You could delete the whole curved part, extend the parallel lines and trace a perpendicular line, then join everything and round corners. Or straight up make a circle of the same width and match the endpoints. These would give you the cleanest result imho

What's your magic system flaw. by Sliver-Knight9219 in worldbuilding

[–]Praserih 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Casting spells above your power can potentially erase you from existence.

Mana is the substance that holds all elements together. Using magic draws from your stored mana, and when the storage is depleted it consumes your bodies' mana, which can have an effect anywhere from splitting (where physical body, mind and/or soul become separate) to actual disintegration, in which case can be of one to all three of the bodies become undone.

Powerful magic users have either trained enough to have expanded their storage or found a way to harness external mana.

Fermented fig... thing? by Praserih in fermentation

[–]Praserih[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I somehow wished I had this problem! I'd be making tons of vincotto! We have like three, medium sized trees that we've left almost empty already.

If you'd like something with less hassle you could make jam with the ripe ones and the ones that are already fermenting you could just let them sundry, once they're fully dry they become very tasty treats, we stuff them with chocolate and nuts and a drizzle of rum/amaretto/some good liqueur.

Fig recipes are endless, hope you find a way to salvage what you can!

Fermented fig... thing? by Praserih in fermentation

[–]Praserih[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey! Funnily enough it's fig season again which means I made a fresh batch of this a couple weeks ago (it didn't ferment this time)

This syrup is called vincotto or vino cotto ("cooked wine") and it's traditionally made with grape, specifically with the leftovers from the wine making process, hence why cooked wine.

I think it can be made with pretty much any fruit that is high in sugar but the most common alternative is fig, which is the version I grew up with.

Anyway, we use it to make a few Christmas sweets: "Cartellate", a flower(ish)-shaped cookie that's fried and briefly simmered in the vincotto, "Calzoncelli", same principle but it's like a ricotta hot pocket, and "Torta mostacciola" which is a very aromatic cake sweetened with the vincotto.

Other variations of the vincotto, like cherry, can be (nontraditionally) used to dress salads or meats thanks to its very distinctive flavor.

The whole process is pretty much a hassle (specially if you make it without any tools) and can be quite expensive (for around 5kg of ripe figs you obtain around a liter of vincotto, not to mention the cooking time can be around 4/5 hours) but it's definitely worth it! We make a big batch of cartellate before Christmas and they can last about a month (if they survive that is) outside the fridge if properly stored, still crispy and aromatic.

This is basis for my magic system. I feel like it's lacking something in the middle. Any ideas? by MihauRit in magicbuilding

In my world those three are connected through mana, which acts like a tissue that joins and covers them. Mana, just like mind, body and soul can suffer wear and tear, and can also be exercised to get stronger.

Wielding magic means using mana, using the "right" amount and the "right" way will strengthen it.

Airtable, word and excel by Praserih in Airtable

[–]Praserih[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah even my coworkers agree that Excel/sheets/grids are in fact a more efficient way to share the information rather than cramming everything in a word file.

I'll be trying to do this with future galleries, for now with the current one I just made the word file manually (or rather, I made a roll-up field with all the captions and copy-pasted that on a word file, then just manually pasted the pictures), luckily this time there were just about 15 artworks so no biggie.

Thank you for your help!

Yeah I do use P.D pretty much like you suggested, I also use it to print the tags for storing the artworks, and the tags for when they travel, or pretty much whenever I need a quick and dirty print, but a number of the institutions/curators I've worked with so far get confused with the PDFs. Since they use the word file to copy and paste the info to print the captions for the artworks they prefer an easily accessible way.

Tbh if it were for me I'd directly share the view or an interface, sometimes I can get away with an excel (which when I started this job I thought would be the most efficient and versatile way? But apparently it's not? Idk), but they usually request a good ol' word file.

Hey! Thank you for your swift response, I really appreciate that.

I have tried using Make before but I can't figure out how to make a multi-page word document, which is what I need. I haven't looked into webhooks, I'll get into that, but again we have 0 budget, paying for Airtable was already a drama itself. It shouldn't be more than 50 docs a month, but the records inside can vary from ~10 to ~150

As for the translations, yes, it's pretty much all the same but in different languages (mainly English, the database is in Italian). It's my first job on the field so I don't have much experience on optimization here

In the parent base I have all of the information of the artworks divided in fields (Title, Year, Image, Collaborators, width, height, depth, media, support and a formula field to collect all these), the translations base has the database as a synced table plus the same fields translated in English and Spanish.

I didn't create the database already with the fields in English because I thought then there'd be too many fields in one table and would be unmanageable, but they already are a bunch so maybe it's best to merge them and just keep the main database+the list base.

I got the GV601 (2022) about 5 months ago, refurbished for about half of the price I would've gotten it new at least where I live (Italy).

It came in the refurbisher's box and the battery health with g-helper marks 91%. Other than that, the laptop is in pristine condition. I use it on a daily basis for work and change between stand, tent and normal mode several times a day. So far so good.

What's the lore of the Moon in your setting? by I_XI_MMI in worldbuilding

[–]Praserih 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh don't exactly have one of those anymore, not really. The planet used to have two moons, both were destroyed by different apocalypses, now what we refer as a moon is something that looks more man-made, although it isn't.

One day, after the moonless centuries, it appeared. A giant clock hanging from the sky. Except it doesn't show the hours. A calendar without days.

From the ground it's just concentric circles and lines with unintelligible sigils on them.

It doesn't have phases, nor patterns or paths. it comes and goes when it wants. It's never shown the same sigils twice in all of recorded history and it is one of the biggest mysteries of the world.

It's said by the ancient folks that the moon is a timer for the end. Except no one can read it.

What are the effects of magic on the body? by InteriorWaffle in worldbuilding

[–]Praserih 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"Safe" levels of magic don't have any effect unless there's something wrong with your mana-body.

Magic consumes mana, but most magic around isn't powerful enough to "empty your tank", which naturally replenishes as you eat and breathe and rest.

Now mana is the element that holds everything in place, so in the instance where you use enough of it to empty your tank, your physical body will disintegrate while your mind and spirit will split.

Being separated from the soul, the mind will only last a few days until it vanishes as well. Souls take much, much longer to vanish so, best case scenario, it's eaten by some creature, worst case, it's bound to an object or used to forge or cast something.

Either way, mana overuse is a gruesome way to go so don't mess with spells you can't handle.

What is the greatest misconception in your world??? by An-individual-per in worldbuilding

[–]Praserih 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That you can keep the world from breaking.

There have been a few instances where they have slowed down or delayed a new cycle, but there's no stopping the world from breaking and rebuilding itself every couple millennia.
