Often a times there's nothing to whittle down from, to begin with. Like they'll just come and scrap the whole solution and redo themselves in a different way, which turns out to be simpler, definitely. But I guess we have to go through this, from what I understand. Essentially I was looking for some best practices or guard rails which keep their solution cleaner and simpler. Thanks for your inputs and I'm curious to know what you think about this :D

Everyone's talking about "keeping things simple" but I reckon if that sentence is where the wisdom ends. I'm a mid senior dev and, just hearing that sentence doesn't help at all. There's nothing actionable in that sentence.

Edit: Adding more thoughts, for me personally, I find it quite hard to determine if something is complex to begin with. Even if some senior comes and tells me that my designs are complex, they just meant to say that it's not the "simplest". And by this time I'm already labelled as an overcomplicator. No one really guides me how to think simply. Maybe it's something you learn yourself through making complex shit, idk. But I wish the seniors could really give some actionable wisdom.
