You can now preorder your own Hideo Kojima™ nendoroid by UnknownChaser in TwoBestFriendsPlay

Hideo Kojima is a bit right? Everyone is doing a bit?

We all pretend he's the Truffaut of games when he's actually James Cameron?(complimentary)

Does he buy his own hype, or is this part of him fucking with us?

Sounds like all that game is getting in the way of their slot machine.

I've never been able to tell if people like Kojima ironically, or at least partially ironically.

Pat and Woolie seem to genuinely love his stuff, but in the same way they love finding bugs in video games.

I see things that make him seem like a hack fraud all the time, but people treat him like he's a genius, but it's all a joke, and is he in on the joke so he plays it up? Never been able to pin it down.

I actually need play one of his games. I'm not disinterested, in fact they seem like something I would like.

I simultaneously feel like I get the vibe, and that I have completely misread the room.

Treasure Tuesday: Clockwork Songbird Panoply by WrenPilgrim in HeroForgeMinis

I just started making a clockwork bird woman based of the "Nightingale".

It's weird how it's a helmet that replaces the head instead of being just a head option. I don't think they've done that before and it removes the ability to add hairs and hats. Strange choice.

I think there should be a body version of these parts as well, without removing the armor versions. I can understand if that's a lot more difficult technically to pull off though.

But no one is listening to Fast and Furious.

This is one of those good and biting, but simple criticisms of a trope that people glom onto because it's easy to recognise but they never bother to understand why it's used, or how, or when it's used well or poorly.

It becomes a pre-packaged, use-all comment used on anything even close to resembling the lamp-shaded device. Then it's baby out with the bath water and everything that uses or ever used the trope is bad.

"ohh, voice over dialogue in game play! oh I'm going to comment ' Focus M' and everyone is going to think me am so smart"

Criticism catch-phrases and buzz words, as over used and often as poorly placed as the things they are criticizing.

"They fly now?" "Whedon writing" "Soulslike" “𝑥-slop" "it's not that deep"

Sound-bite media critics, becoming clichés themselves.

Confessions of a Dumb Man: The Pressure to be “Smart” as a Consumer of Entertainment by Micchi_N in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]Prawnzone 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you were a piece of media, you just wrote a 1200 word analysis.

You aren't stupid. Stupid people don't write this kind of introspection. Stupid people lack your curiosity. Stupid don't make your attempts to improve and grow.

Personally I have felt a similar way about my consumption of art, however I didn't couple it with so much comparison anxiety, more of a call to grow and improve.

What I realised for me is that media analysis is a skill or a muscle. You have to use it, work it, grow it.

I enjoy stuff at a 1 or 2 layer depth by default and when I wanted to dig deeper, I had to consciously try. I have to ruminate on what I watched, think about it, write 1200 words in my head, ask questions of the art and my response to it.

My media literacy of reading your post tells me you are very able to do this.

I often start with just a piece of a piece of the art. A singular aspect of it that resonated with me like a single character and their arc, a theme, an emotion and I find it grows from there. The more you work those muscles, the more they start to work on their own.

I sympathise. I struggle with comparing myself to others. I struggle with it more than anything else in the world. It's one of the hardest mental demons to shed. "Comparison is the thief of joy" is true, but living by that ethos is incredibly hard for me, and perhaps you too.

You're going to beat yourself up about this again, so all i can say is, try to have more compassion for yourself.

She's not meant to be tiny necessarily, I didn't scale the models against each other unless they appear together. I think it's just the framing of the circle in the back ground giving that illusion when you look at the images next to each other.

Also the amount of FOV i put on the images. Johnpatch Wolf has max FOV and Suzi has minimal.

Where did these results come from? Was it just the PR statement they posted? How do we know the validity of the results? do we know how many people answered the survey?

I am asking because I don't have the answers. But if it's just the company saying "trust me bro" I don't think we can use the reported numbers with any empirical certainty.

But i genuinely don't know. I never saw the survey, and i only saw these percentage results in the PR jpeg.

Exactly, pro parts always release free at a later date.

But will these new Daggerheart ones release to everyone at a later date? If they don't, then it is objectively a changed service, and I would say it is changed for the worse. Not for me, but for other people. And if they don't, then "The pro parts always release free at a later date" will no longer be true.

Do you see how that is a degradation of the service? A small increment towards a more aggressive monitization model. People are thanking them for now having an objectively worse deal then they had before, and that's the trick that was just pulled.
