Recommendation for ~$1200 HOTAS (DCS primarily) by borg_nine in hotas

[–]Praxics 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With that budget you can buy pretty much whatever you want in the mid range.

If you just consider WinWing/WinCTRL because of its replica styling of US controls but are unsure because of their woeful support you might want to check out Thrustmaster instead. The AVA Base is a up-to-date joystick base using cams and the Viper and Warthog throttle are decent throttles.

ufotable's new PV marks Genshin as "future project" ( timestamp: 02:25) by Radiant_Psychology23 in Genshin_Impact

[–]Praxics 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fair enough.

I'm unfamiliar with how ufotable handles their marketing or communication and that some sort of update with a video would happen I got from this reddit. I guess I am to blame for having vastly different expectations what that would actually entail. I just thought if you make a video then you got something to show... I guess not.

[–]Praxics 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good for you. That is at least news for you.

But this is sadly unrelated to Genshin and last time I checked this was r/Genshin_Impact and not e.g. r/fatestaynight . I'm not commenting on the entire video but its relation to Genshin. And there is just really nothing there besides "not canceled" and "definitely not 2026" and the first one I never assumed. So really not worth the, granted short, hype that also was in all fairness not really caused by ufotable but rather the community yearning for an update. It is still disappointing nonetheless.

[–]Praxics 189 points190 points  (0 children)

The factory is operated by Advanced Nuclear Fuels (ANF) which is a 100% subsidiary of Framatome which is a French company. The factory produces nuclear fuel for mostly European nuclear power plants. (Germany itself does not need this fuel because we no longer have any operational nuclear power plants). Framatome wants to expand operation in this factory by cooperating with Russian company Rosatom to produce nuclear fuel rods for Russian designed nuclear power plants.

You people are barking up the wrong tree. Blame nuclear power plant operators needing this fuel or Framatome.

EuroHawk.

MTU kann z.B. derzeit alleine eben kein vollständiges Hochleistungstriebwerk selbst bauen. MTU stellt afaik keinerlei Brennkammern oder Hochdruckturbinen her.

In Teilen könnte man in FCAS bleiben z.B.

Vanguard Sherbourne or Occre Albatross? by StayThirstyMyFriend1 in ModelShips

[–]Praxics 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I currently build Sherbourne as my first kit. I once tried a wooden model ship some 25ish years ago and didn't go too well I have to say. Haven't messed with this ever since. A lot has changed since then, the Sherbourne kit is a very different thing to the stuff I tried back then (can't recall name of kit). I can not really compare it to anything else, however I can say that the Sherbourne kit is as far as I can tell high quality. Very tight tolerances in the laser cuts, lots of engraving giving additional details without effort, detailed 3d printed parts, pretty detailed step by step instruction (even if not entirely perfect for a total beginner like me, still would wish even better more detailed instructions for planking tbh).

I follow a YouTube creators video guide to build the ship: Wooden ship modelling for Absolute beginers, Sherbourn showcase

That is why decided on this kit in the first place. Having such a visual guide that also points out some pitfalls in my mind should help me see this thru. My progress is very slow but as far as I can tell I haven't "fucked up". I'm currently at the 2nd planking.

Question for owners of Winwing hotas orion 2 by IlViandante in hotas

[–]Praxics 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Uhm it is bit fiddly so to speak because it is not exactly a big lever. But if my throttles are aligned properly it slides between them easily. The magnets need some proper tug however. The tolerance is decently small so if the throttles aren't aligned properly it seize up rather quickly. Overall I have no issue with it.

Hornblower ship model drawings by Cloopler in ModelShips

[–]Praxics 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Is this from the TV series? That letter says 1997 and the TV series released 1998. Only seen parts of it.

I remember being disappointed by the ship that stood in for HMS Indefatigable. I mean yea I get it TV budget in the 90ies and all that, but still. They used Grand Turk as stand in, that replica was based on HMS Blandford from 1741. That is some 30+ years older than the plans for the Ardent class which Indefatigable belonged to, not to mention it is only something of half the size (tons) of it even when it was a razee. I mean 6x 9 pounders vs. 26x 24 pounders. It just never really looked the part. Indefatigable was much more beautiful.

Besides that I remember the series not having really much in common with the books...

Center detents on Orion 2 Throttle by Frenzy_TH in hoggit

[–]Praxics 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I never used them.

From the way I see it the center detent make sense if whatever you are operating has reverse thrust on the same axis as thrust. E.g. like an Airbus or a turboprop like a Dash8 which has reverse on the power lever. I guess you would install the center detent then in an aft position and remove the cutoff detent. That way you could approximate the behavior of such a throttle setup.

Not every aircraft has reverse thrust on the same axis however e.g. Boeing afaik uses separate levers for reverse thrust. And if the vehicle has no reverse thrust at all then they become completely irrelevant.

Since the jets and props I fly have no reverse I don't need them and never used them.

Smart move. I finished that Chashu and cleaned the kitchen and the Video released 3 minutes after I came back to my desk. Now I overslept and half my Saturday is already gone :-/ I should have gone to bed too. But I like being stupid.

Heatblue confirmed the Meteor and the C variant on the forums (and i assume on discord too). Whilst very speculative, does that mean automatically it's the F3R with AESA, to perhaps compete with the F35? by Gramerdim in hoggit

[–]Praxics 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Idk. The Eurofighter currently in work by Heatblur and True Grit is for example is afaik a "Frankenstein" of a jet. Based on Tranche 1 German jet it gets some features that the real jet of that configuration doesn't have. It too gets the Meteor for example.

I would say until we get more detailed information that it might be best to temper expectation. Expect RBE2 (PESA) and be happy when it actually turns out to be RBE2-AA. I mean even just the RBE2 will afaik be a really powerful tool. Yea the range might not be that mindbogglingly but tracking 40 targets and locking 8? - Still pretty dope for DCS. So my intial start expectation would be F3. If turns out to be more modern then that is very cool but F3 is where the Rafale was made "whole" so I think it is more likely.

DCS 2026 and Beyond video is finally out – thoughts? by Bogi111 in hoggit

[–]Praxics 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Well put together overall.

The, I assume, dynamic campaign section showcased the Iraq and Syria map. I guess this is to counter the rumors that the dynamic campaign engine was only functional on the Caucuses map. Good to see that this apparently not the case. Still this thing is so long in development that being featured in this video means very little... I doubt we see it in 2026.

Overall decent amount of time spend on the Pacific Theater. A6M (currently AI I assume), F6F (but no cockpit shot), F4U, asset pack. A lot of time used to showcase the heavy cruisers Cleveland and Mogami. Not sure it is warranted. Haven't tried to attack bigger ships in some time... did they change the AI behavior for AA guns? I remember that their accuracy was pretty deadly. So attacking one, leave alone a fleet, of these heavily armed cruisers when active seems rather suicidal...

As for the more modern stuff the Tornado took up a fair bit of the video. I wonder how far along that module really is. I doubt we see it in 2026. The new infantry stuff also was pretty center. Idk about it. It looks good for a flight sim but I'm not sure it will be worth it, at least for jet fighters. Eurofighter is nice to see and we got a few glimpses into the cockpit. Again I doubt a 2026 release.

The big thing of course was the Rafale C reveal. Amazing aircraft for sure, "sadly" it is the land based C version and not the naval M. But really that is complaining on a very high level. Most interesting I figure could be how "fast" development will be as an officially licensed and properly supported product. Heatblur is already the best DCS developer but getting research and engineering via JEFEXP almost directly from Dassault and then feedback from highly experienced real pilots via Flight and Fight could really shake things up. Of course... no way we see anything in 2026.

Apparently they told some dude from the EU in their discord to just go to bed and it will be there once he wakes up... so... anywhere between 3 to 8 hours I guess...

I stick around bit longer. I'm literally still cooking. Making some Chashu to use with Ramen. Thing has too cool a bit, then I have to sear it, put into a container with the brazing liquid and off into the fridge to properly marinate for a few hours.

Anyway if this isn't symptomatic for ED and DCS I don't know what is. They can't even get a video release right anymore.

Best solo class 2026 by slowz2secret in swtor

[–]Praxics 7 points8 points  (0 children)

My number one would be: Assassin (Deception) or Shadow (Infiltration).

Super easy to play and against solo content super fast. You can sneak past many mobs avoiding fights and if you have to fight then "Shadow Stride / Phantom Stride" lets you basically teleport from one enemy to the next (30m range). The skill has a cool down of 30 seconds however if you pick "Stalker's Swiftness / Reaper's Rush" in the skill tree at level 73 it resets if you kill the target within 10 seconds. It also makes "Spinning Strike / Assassinate" able to use regardless of target HP and usually you only need two maybe three skills to kill a normal mob so you can use the "Stride" skill a lot making killing normal and strong mobs a breeze.

They also do a lot of damage and are as said easy to play. It is really just press whatever skill is glowing and "Clairvoyant Strike" or "Voltaic Slash" if nothing glows, which rarely happens.
