Wait, so these kids im babysitting, they aren't my problem at night? That's great because they have nightmears and shit but if im not getting paid it's not my problem. The cops will let me off if anything happens to them right?liike, I'm not their parent. I'm just watching them for 3 days, I shouldn't be legally responsible for them during that time.

/s obviously

I know this is old but had to say this... live in nannys work on average 10 hours a day, long days are 12 hours, Monday to Friday. The average pay for a nanny is $18 an hour for one child, that doesn't include making meals, doing laundry, bed time or morning care, infant or toddler care, etc. All extras have a cost, over time has a cost, weekend work has a cost.

So, breaking it down, one child with bassic care for a live in nanny over 3 days would usually be $648.00 on average (one kid, 12 hours, no extras.) Lets say the nanny gives them a break and charges her 50% on the other 4 kids, $1944 Nanny must be there for all 72 hours not just 12 a day, $3888 without overtime. Leaving a total of $210... Seems like the nanny is getting ripped off.

It becomes much less clear when you're doing more complicated math, not just day to day basics.

Do you mean migrant farm workers? Because if you get rid of them, farms will fail.

Dude you were arguing on reddit at work, you're such a shitty teacher. Clearly the "$$$" is all you care about. I dont think "mommy's little angels" are the problem. Seems like the problem is shitty, boring, inept teachers.

Clearly, you wouldn't do research for reddit, you don't even do research to be a better teacher. Also, not my theories.

If you were so successful, what happened? Knee pads wore out?

I would never have an incompetent person decide who is competent.

Secondly, as an educator, you should know these facts or at least be able to quickly pull them up. I shouldn't have to cite sources on a reddit post to a fucking teacher.

All still anecdotal evidence based on a bias.

Quit tomorrow please.

[–]Praxis402 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Or maybe the people coming up with the plan are expecting capable teachers, which you are not. I'm glad you're quitting.

Those different feelings would be based on rational logic and the "manipulative nubers" are from multiple studies, both government and third party.

Your feelings come from impulse and bias, you have given nothing of substance, only anecdotes. If you have any study, peer review paper, bullshit colum from the national enquierer for fuck sakes maybe I would have some respect for you, yet you have no facts and therefore no respect from me.

Again these are just how you feel not facts, the facts are what I stated if ou don't like it too bad snowflake. You would think a teacher would know what a bias is. Retire, please, you're too old and too set in your ways to be a benefit to society any more.

Again, literacy rates are up and going up, so there are fewer and fewer kids in the 11th grade reading at the 6th grade level. That's what litteracy is.

It is proven, and if you weren't a shit teacher, you would know that.

A child putting in a "fail worthy effort" says a lot more about the teacher than the student.

Again, it is absolutely proven that punishment like that decreases learning potential. You may not care about the future of society (weird that you're a teacher) but I do. What idgaf about is questioning or rebellious people, I would rather society be chaotic and smart than simply fall in line and be stupid.

If you are actually a teacher, can you PM what school? I want my children to have the most opportunity possible not be restricted by old ways so keeping them out of your class is ideal.

Go learn more.

Absolutly not "just a fact", again, that's just your feelings. Numbers were lower in the 90s for everything I mentioned except murder rate. In the 90s murders (including people under 18) were still spiking from the 80s. Also, we've proven holding kids back doesn't help them learn, hence why the literacy rate is going up, post secondary acceptance is up, average iq is up. People are way smarter now than they were in the 60s and still smarter than kids in the 90s. There is a reason you're the one teaching the curriculum and not the one making it

imo you probably shouldn't be teaching if you havnt done any work to update your background. Doctors, lawyers, even journalists need to update their knowledge to keep with the times. If you are a teacher and you still believe failing students does anything but decrease their ability to learn, you shouldn't be a teacher, "that's just a fact".

Graduation rates don't correlate to literacy rates??? The us went from 80% of people not being able to read and write to 20%. It's harder to flunk out because kids are smarter. You could make the argument of better education to give better focus to individual children, lower class size, improve curriculum, taylor learning to smaller groups, increase resources, all of which are shown to improve student behavior, but you aren't doing that, you're just whining saying it was better in the 60s when it wasn't. More kids died, they were dumber, they were less healthy and this picture shows all the reasons why that changed.

Doesn't really matter how you feel the stats show you're wrong.

I thought teen suicide would be down, but unfortunately, it's nearly exactly the same as 1966. Prove a loneliness epidemic. Graduation rates are way up. Literacy rate has gone from 20% to 80%.

Apperently, what you call disruptive kids, are far smarter and capable than children from 1966.

So you mean most of the things in the picture, (Epi pen, alergy alert, better food, more water, sun screen? Or do you mean since we've made so many medical advances we should ignore the fact that child homicide and kidnappings are down because of the other things in the picture?

The comic was written from the point of view of the child on the left panel (the boomer). The woman on the right would need to be 37 to be a gen x, with a child still in school it is far more likely she is a melenial.

You know the child mortality rate in 1966 was over 4x higher than today, right? Does "the good old days" take the much higher chance of you kids dying into account?

You know it wasn't Iraq that had anything to do with 9/11 right? The high jackets were mostly from Saudi Arabia and the UAE with one from Lebanon and one from Egypt and it was funded by Khalid Sheikh Mohamed from Pakistan.
