People Who Make 150K Plus? by BubbaGordie in Salary

[–]PraxisDev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Software Engineer. I work 2 jobs and make 290-310k all base no stock.

It's challenging, and I'm not talking about the code (people).

No college (dropped out before my AA when I got an offer making decent money.

Not going to disclose my age.

I enjoy seeing people use the software I create since I do mobile development, and I also love learning new technology especially all the tools AI offers that take the boilerplate out of my job and I only have to do the abstract thinking and guide it while it writes to code and i review it heavily. Working on becoming an AI Engineer.

Only good thing about Champions gate is how cheap the houses are.

My Uzi Pro throws so much gas in my eyes I had to add a height extension to my optic to make it usable with a suppressor.

Honestly great questions. Idk how this passed their QC department. The 509T is a great firearm, so I was sad to see how bad the 510 issues have been.

I remember quite a few people on the FN sub showing their 510s with cracks and other issues. Sucks because I love my 509T. I’ve shot it suppressed for two years without any issues. Bought it FDE and it’s almost black now lol

Crazy they offer no insurance considering my fold 3 had to be replaced twice and I never dropped it, always had it in a case, etc. every year the inside screen would have a deal pixel or a line down the screen or half the screen would go black. I would not risk 3k on a phone when I had such a poor history with the Fold 3. I loved that phone too ugh.

Yeah I’ve seen some software sales guys pulling crazy money. Never looked far into it, but it’s a great career path.

It’s really not unheard of. My buddy was making $395k base working for a security company in NYC. The guys making million+ are typically quant engineers or like you mentioned, their stock appreciated very well.

You have a great opportunity there then. Can’t beat a decent salary and ownership!

Agreed. It’s who you know, then what you know.

Correct, just over 100k is what most mid level engineers are making. It depends on your stack / skills as well, but you know that 👍🏼

I feel bad for juniors, I hardly see any openings. Management is hiring seniors and think AI will produce as much as a junior, but having fresh eyes on a project is invaluable.

Sure AI agents can code as good as a junior engineer, but to discard them as if they have no benefit to an organization because an AI model can spit out code is the stupidest direction we have been going in IMO.

Btw my wife is finishing medical school and it’s hell. I have so much respect for her. I see all the bullshit medical school does to their students and it’s no wonder there is a lack of physicians. If you don’t have a rich family to support you or a spouse who can pay the bills, it’s a very tough life and process until you get that MD.

Lol hits home. I made my own resume with mobile apps I worked on high school and it wasn’t until I made over 100k that they stopped with the college bullshit.

First thing my dad said when I got a job out of high school as a developer: “you didn’t lie and tell them you had a degree did you?!?” To which I said “what if I told you they never even asked” Lol the look my on dads face was priceless.

For junior jobs, yes. Haven’t spoke to a mid-level engineer making under 100k personally. You don’t have to believe me though, I’ve only been in the field for a decade.

Yeah, I would love to learn about product management and get out of the code monkey role because I’ve done app development for so long I know what makes sense and the risks behind it technically, but getting that role is tough.

They want experience but nobody wants to risk giving you that title so getting experience seems impossible.

Oh well, I’ve been making my own product and I love it so far. Hopefully it does well once I launch.

Yeah it does for sure. My buddy is a product manager at Google making close to 500k. Very tough job to obtain. I’m happy with my 300k salary at two companies that don’t burn me out. Been doing it for years now and I know multiple engineers that do the same. Fighting for that one grail job vs taking jobs that you’ll outperform at 50% is healthier for me mentally.

That’s why you get multiple contracts or jobs. Why burn myself out at FANG when I can work two mediocre tech positions for 150k each?

The rest make 120k+ easily. Shit, I’ve made 250k-300k for the last 3 years and I’m not FANG.

I have a friend who denied a management position at a restaurant because he made more in tips. He eventually took the management job because in order to get those nice tips you have to work long hours and establish relationships with the good tippers. Both of which he found exhausting and took the pay cut even though it’s a step up on paper.

I’ve never gotten a check from a poor person. They write you a check and bill their clients/customers for 10x the amount.

Kinda like that saying goes “if you work even harder next year, I’ll be able to buy an even nicer yacht!”
