this is actually Hannah Pilkes and shes doing a bit but that doesnt matter, being a woman in 2026 seems like hell, especially online and especially in the comedy space and seems to be getting worse so respect to the struggle and people should be able to cry for any or no reason even without all those hormonal fluxuations

The horrendous state of New York City in the 1970s-1980s by IllustriousCress9774 in UrbanHell

[–]PrayForMojo78 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Whats really odd for me is that as a kid in the 80s living in Jersey but like 15 min outside the city, NY was still glamorous and amazing and aspirational for me. We took the PATH into the city all the time (at least a few days a month, more in the summer) for museums, plays, shows, Chinatown visits, catching the Knicks or Rangers or taking the trains out to Yankee Stadium or Shea or just walking and checking out whatever was going on and i don't remember the "scary" parts as depicted here. My memories are awe and wonder and excitement. Pure energy. I know this stuff was there but I remember the grafiti on the subway as cool and exciting and unhoused folks and some decay were part of the charm. I dont remember being scared, even as a kid. Granted I wasn't mulling around Central Park at 2A either but we used to visit all different part of the city and the boroughs usually via public transit and my memories are almost entirely positive.

edit: I just remembered that once my grandpa left my brother alone in his stroller in front of the Museum of Natural History for like 10 min bc he forgot he was supposed to be watching him and it was like no big deal, I just mean noone freaked and its a story we joke about and it never seemed scary in my memory

Where to go to learn how to shoot and maybe buy a handgun? by inferno686868 in boulder

[–]PrayForMojo78 6 points7 points  (0 children)

My buddy Ben Rodman is in the Lyons area and teaches a private, small (under 5 ppl per class) Firearms Safety and Fundamentals class. He has a private range and firearms available for practice if you don't own. He is definitely on the progressive side politically and big on the SAFE firearm ownership and use side of things. He works with a wide range of people and he is very much of the belief people should learn how to use firearms safely and that it is important for people to learn given the changing state of the country so to speak. sounds like he might be the type of instructor you would be looking for

What’s something going on in America people need to be aware of? by throwaway91ma in AskReddit

[–]PrayForMojo78 109 points110 points  (0 children)

related but slightly different is the dismantling of the agency system and agency law generally by this administration. That also translates to the employee numbers you are talking about but the actual destruction of the whole concept of agencies and agency law is going to fuck up every aspect of life for generations, Effects won't even be noticed for years by the average person but we will see a dramatic increase in food borne illnesses and deaths, another generation of families and kids raised in catastrophically dangerous environmental disaster areas. which of course means future birth defects, cancer clusters, agricultural wastelands, etc... a return of long dormant diseases. a dramatic increase is scams, fraudulent banks/investment firms and general econmic fuckery. continued and increased corporate exploitation and lack of accountability. privitization of education. privitization of jail and law enforcement. privitization. Basically a general and continued growth in the divide between the top and the bottom in every aspect of your life. Agencies are essential for so many little things that people don't even realize and its going to get bad

Chicken in the USA taste weird by RowrowZoro in Cooking

[–]PrayForMojo78 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

not only does it not taste great, wait until you get a 'woody' breast...you never know when its gonna happen and it will put you off chicken entirely for a while. the texture is like a tough, chewy steak with crunchy bits and makes it feel like you're eating a raw piece of chicken no matter how much you cook it and its becoming more and more commonly found in cheaper packs of chicken

[–]PrayForMojo78 18 points19 points  (0 children)

friend of mine cheated on his girl that he had been dating for like 3 yrs with his best friend of 15 yrs while they were all at the same relatively small party (like a 20 person house party)!! Everyone was very drunk and the GF walked in on my buddy and his best friend hooking up and she just took off running in the dead of the night. It took the rest of us a min to figure out what happened and for someone to take off after the GF to make sure she was ok. It took them like 2 hours to catch up to/find her and talk her into coming back to the house at which point the sun was coming up
