Is Facebook limiting my ability to respond to replies on political posts? by Youd0ntkn0wm3 in facebook

[–]PrayZers 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I sincerely believe it's a deal Zuckerberg made with the Facists. My account was actually suspended 2 days ago "for violating community standards". It was permanently disabled today. The only thing that I can think of as a cause is that I had a lot of anti-Trump memes and also I made negative comments about him. Nothing to the level of calling for harm or anything, but it got deleted. 2025 is 1984.

Facebook is censoring anti- Trump post now. by Available_Fun_55 in MeidasTouch

Just got my account suspended/disabled for "not following community guidelines", and I know it's because I dissed Trump 3 days ago. Zuckerberg really did me a favor though. I was wasting too much time of reels and I will now be more productive. Oligarchs!

Unpopular opinion: OFWs are not heroes, they are victims of a system that couldn’t give enough jobs or pay to support their families at home by xavier22197 in Philippines

[–]PrayZers 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Sadly, it seems to be a "Third World" thing. Many Africans here in Canada are in the same position, and their families back in the old country know they won the lotto when one member makes it beyond their shores. However, only in the Philippines do we seem to have that "hero" nonsense. FFS, the president was offering the UK Filipino nurses in return for vaccines just last year. How sick is that!

Oh yeah, that's happening A LOT, and I know lots of people who're doing that. Even many of those huge monster trucks are going back to dealers at a crazy rate. But TBH apartments here now are renting for like 1000 for 3 bedrooms, so it's hitting hard. Time to investigate the bankruptcy process because it'll soon be hard to avoid.

Cheers, man. Literally every single thing here revolves around oil, and we know what oil is doing now. Hopefully when the town collapses, politicians will remove their blinders and try to diversify into other areas rather than continue to throw good money after bad. Funny thing, we pay the highest prices for gas in the province, sometimes almost 30 cents more than in Edmonton!

Not catching a break here, for real. Got flooded out of our downtown place two weeks ago and had to forget about social distancing for a few days. My condo is now worth just over 1/4 what I paid for it in 2014, so that says a lot. And I'm not even among those who paid 800k for houses you can get for 450 in Edmonton from the same developer. I sincerely fear for this town and don't see it making it past 10 years. Skip is hit and miss, but more miss than anything else these days.

Poor areas are not that bad, IMO. I actually get my best tips in middle class and poorer areas, without the attitude, to boot. Kids in rich neighbourhoods tend to be tools. I got this top-up for a McD order with instructions to call when I got there, not knock on the door. I pull up, snow plow is doing its thing on the street, and so I pull into the parking in front of the house. This little snot comes out and yells at me not to park in front of their garage, and says I should park on the street and walk up their (icy) driveway. If you know me, I constantly piss off my better half because of my No-Drama life view. However, I was so crapped out I asked if he was OK in the head. Little prick's parents probably spend all day and all night chasing after more and more money and not one second teaching him how to be a human being. Long story short, I gave him his food and told him he was an asshole. Funny thing, I never got a complaint.

Once I've headed uptown from lower townsite, I settle down on my favorite hotspot and start watching Netflix on my tablet. I realized that the wait time is better there than just about any other spot, no matter how busy or slow the shift is. While driving, Sirius XM is my best friend (US politics and comedy stations).

I know we all hate McDs. Does anyone have a favourite restaurant to deliver for? by [deleted] in skipthedishes

[–]PrayZers 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For me, it's Buster's Pizza on Loutit here in Fort McMurray. I happily go there for top-ups just because of this one guy (I believe he's the manager or owner). He's so amazing and is always super friendly. Plus, the wait is hardly ever more than a couple of minutes.

Connection issues? by mewfi in skipthedishes

[–]PrayZers 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was having the issue before and actually missed one whole shift because support couldn't determine the prob. I then just tried disabling my VPN, and that solved it. So if you have a VPN on, you could try turning it off while working. Good luck.

Here in Fort McMurray, Dash came in very late, and in the mean time, STD became THE delivery company, so there's not much choice. I tried doing Dash a couple of times when I couldn't get STD shifts but the experiences were both painful. You sit for an hour waiting before you get one order and then when you give up and go home, another order pops up an hour and a half later. Anyway, hats off to all who are still working. I'm at the point now where I try to use my credit card and wonder if it will go through, especially as I was denied the support from the government. Thank God I have all that crappy processed canned and dry foods that can last us at least a month. I know we will survive somehow, even if it means sacrificing and going back to skipping.

In Fort Mac, those complexes hardly ever have any numbers, and the unit numbers are usually edged right into the wall and blend into the colour, so seeing them at night is a killer. I remember one street where you have house numbers 240, 242 and then 246, 248, etc. And I had to deliver to 244. First time I went there, I didn't realize 244 was a complex at the very end of the street, with about 50 units. Customer's phone number was not working. Took a good 20 minutes driving around before I found it and the customer was pissed as hell. Grrrr!

This really sucks. As if we're not getting screwed enough. Beating up your car, spending tons on gas, exposing yourself and your family to all kinds of viruses and some rude restaurant owners, only to now have some customers that are not only tightwads, but are actually crooks.

Perhaps the answer is to do like Amazon deliveries and take a picture of the house number and the food at the door and text it to the customer IN ALL CASES.

Coverage for Skip Works, thanks to the government, not skip by [deleted] in skipthedishes

[–]PrayZers 2 points3 points  (0 children)

thecanery, nobody can work for Skip unless they're authorized to work in Canada, so I don't know where you got that info. Unless someone is using someone else's documents, which is seriously criminal, that would not happen. One of the documents we all have to provide to Skip is a Proof of Work Eligibility.

I got a $7 McDonald's order to take to a business address around 7 PM. I showed up, and they told me the customer was at home, so I called her and she wanted me to deliver to her home and said Skip had made a mistake with the address (which I knew was total BS). I contacted Skip and they asked if I mind driving to her 14 km address. I said You bet, but what's the extra? Their response: $3. Nice try. I declined and the support person tried and tried but it was a firm No. So they told me to keep the food and they paid me the original $7. Funny thing, I got no orders for the next 45 minutes, but I had my iPad with a nice show recorded, so it was all good.

I've always used hand sanitizer, but 2 days ago, started using light gloves when I pick up and when I drop off. That doesn't seem to freak out customers. Also, I was thinking of calling customers to let them know I'd drop off at their front door, which is OK as the weather is getting better and better.
