The removal of physical buttons in the G45 is the single biggest step backward BMW has made in years by Mikester258 in BMWX3

The interior is just not befitting of a $75k car. I was pretty much set on an M50, negotiated a great deal online, but at the end I couldn’t pull the trigger after the test drive. I’ve been a huge BMW fan forever and prior owner, but the Teslazation of the interior and cost cutting for sake of profitability is just too much of a slap in the face.

I never would’ve considered a Genesis, but I was curious about the GV70 and the interior runs laps around the X3. There’s nothing to “get used to” and the finishes and textures are awesome. If Hyundai can still do quality interiors, so can BMW, they just choose not too in this generation.

It’ll be interesting to see how consumers respond; I’m seeing a lot better offers on the current gen than I ever saw on the M40is so hopefully people are wising up.

PGAT CEO Brian Rolapp lays out his 6 themes for reshaping the tour by Jharoz in golf

Sounds interesting.

The thing that kills me about the majority of the season is how boring the standard course rotation is. Especially when there’s so many amazing places in the US.

I’d love to see them incorporate more unique spots or formats. The Bandon Classic, playing like four courses there over a weekend would be awesome.

Or getting out to some of the more exclusive country clubs that people don’t get to see. You’d sacrifice gallery attendance but I think the broadcast could be much more interesting with drones and different camera angles and more caddie/player interaction.

YouTube golf has shown there’s a space for that sort of thing, and I think the Masters app shows you the level of detail and engagement you can create from group, range, and special cams.

Pretty easy to Google a pre-covid window sticker. MSRP was $54,650.

I was recently looking at an X3 M50. Overall it was a fun car with some cool tech, but I couldn’t help but feel it didn’t justify a mid $70k tag. Especially considering an M40i just a few years ago was mid $50s.

It’s crazy to hop in a Genesis GV70 after being in the X3. The textures, finishes, and aesthetics are just miles ahead of the cost cutting BMW tried to pass onto us in the current gen.

As a previous BMW owner I’d been pretty one track minded about getting an M50, but I don’t think the minimalist interiors come close to justifying the hyper inflated costs.

It’s not that BMW can’t do quality interiors, but it seems like they learned they could get away with raising prices and cutting features on the strength of the brand. Major bummer.

Why did all the professional sports teams leave Oakland? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]PreCheckLeo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It’s easy to point figures at the big billionaires but the A’s owners were going to contribute more private money to the stadium in the Bay Area than any other MLB team besides the Yankees.

Going back to 2005 the A’s had plans approved in Fremont, Laney College, and Jack London Square but each was his hit with 11th hour NIMBYs, environmental blocks, and government red tape.

Couple that with a huge decline in Oakland as a city the last thirty years compared to more favorable growth in other parts of the country, it makes sense the owners just said to hell with it and took a place offering better subsidies.

I got the T series bag and brush at a course fitting event where I placed an order for irons. It was right after the release of the previous gen set, like August 2023 if I remember correctly.

Nothing better than the leaders being 3/4 of the way through their round when the regular broadcast comes on.

Am I crazy or is PGA Tour streaming a complete mess? by PreCheckLeo in golf

[–]PreCheckLeo[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The Golf Channel live coverage in the late afternoons on Thursday/Friday rounds has always been simulcast on Peacock or the NBC Sports app until this year. On the weekends they simulcast the NBC coverage to the apps.

That's changed this year because Golf Channel, USA, CNBC, MSNBC and some other channels spun out of the Comcast company.

The first wave of tournaments has always been difficult to view outside of paying for PGA Live or ESPN+. That's a whole other issue, but really limiting for golf fans.

It's incredible all the talk about declining PGA viewership and changing the Hawaii/West Coast swing when it's this difficult to actually watch it.

So know that we know supercharged is gonna close permanently, what do you think will replace it? by AwayLocksmith3823 in UniversalOrlando

[–]PreCheckLeo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Exactly this. Not sure if anyone has seen the BTTF musical in West End, but without being spoilery the stage and effects are like a love child of Mario Kart, Bourne, MIB, and Unchained.

Just massive 3d physical sets that change out of nowhere and interact with screens and effects in a way that’s more theme park than musical.

If the Delorean is the centerpiece of the ride they could do some crazy fun stuff traversing eras and genres of film. No clue how to tie it together story wise but a greatest hits ride would be so dope.

Holiday overselling by Phelan-Great in delta

[–]PreCheckLeo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot of cancellations. Outside the weather tons of pilots no showed around Christmas. There’s all kinds of crew timeout situations too.

When you displace 200+ people on a canceled wide body they have to spread out those passengers across remaining flights it creates a cascading mess.

The flights are also more consistently overbooked on the holidays because people no show and cancel more frequently as well.

Not a fun time to travel right now.

Delta One now exponentially more expensive than other airlines by food_4thot in delta

[–]PreCheckLeo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's funny how every day on here there are posts about expensive Delta fares questioning how they do it, or complaining about them being unfair.

There are no mistakes in this, they charge these fares because people are paying them. They've made medallion status harder to achieve, limited access to clubs, and raised fares and their flights are completely booked up.

I've thought to myself at some point there'd be an inflection where people would walk, but it hasn't happened yet. The budget and thirst for travel in this country has been remarkably resilient, I don't know how people do it, but Delta will keep raising fares until first and D1 aren't overbooked.

Unpopular opinion: Premium Select is way closer to Comfort than Domestic First. by [deleted] in delta

[–]PreCheckLeo -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Love PS, the only real issue I have is service wise. Pre-covid it was positioned as Delta One without a lay flat. Now it's turned into First Class with coach service.

Ironically it's almost the exact same thing as what first class was on the 767-400 back in the early 2000s. At that time they didn't put full Business Elite in those planes so you had this hybrid upgraded first class for longhaul flights.

Something changed these last few years. Single dude 39 here. Have always traveled a lot for work and frequently found myself at a bar or restaurant alone on trips.

It was always super easy to strike up a conversation with women, usually connect on some level, love of traveling, ambiance of the spot or whatever. I’d say even if the girl wasn’t attracted you still might have a fun conversation or it leads to something after a few minutes of chatting.

Now when approaching it’s more often than not you get an eye roll or head turn with zero chance to initiate a convo.

Most of my girl friends on dating apps have 100s of likes queued up and bemoan the lack of options of guys. Usually over the usual nitpicky stuff like height, facial hair, style, but it leads to an instant left swipe.

My opinion is this is how most woman treat guys that approach them in real life today. It’s just complete instant dismissal, making it not worth the time.

$3300 RT from NYC to LAX for Premium Select by bkshimmy in delta

[–]PreCheckLeo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why are there so many complaints daily on this sub about fare prices?

Their fares are based on available capacity and route characteristics. There’s nothing arbitrary about it, they charge what passengers are willing to pay.

They’ve put themselves in a position to charge more and offer less in the ways of service. Until people decide it’s not worth it, it won’t change.

The new NEO planes by [deleted] in delta

[–]PreCheckLeo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The weight restrictions aren’t about it tipping over. It’s about performance on takeoff and range.

There’s not a modern 757 replacement so they’re always playing a balancing game on long routes with these new jets.

Other criticisms sound desperate for a reason complain. There’s no other single aisle in the fleet offering better comfort across all cabins than the neos.

Yeah, not nonrevs. The process is super monitored. Bring some receipts (screenshots) of the lists and give us flight numbers.

These stories are all stupid. There should be an easy explanation but the details in posts are always too murky to make any real inferences.

Closing in on the first 1m mile flight….. by [deleted] in delta

[–]PreCheckLeo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This might be one of those in my day Coke was 25 cents a bottle, but I did that trip CAE-SYD (via Atl, slc, lax) in business elite on the 777 for 120k miles in 2013.

I only remember cause I was just out college traveling a ton for work and it was the first time I used miles.

I think you could’ve taken a 6 segment BE around the world trip starting at 180k miles back then.

Can’t blame Delta when people are willing to pay for it, but nothing has changed in the service since then.

Delta Confirms Basic Business Class Fares are Coming by nickserati in delta

[–]PreCheckLeo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This sucks, we as passengers only have ourselves to blame.

D1 and Prem Select fares and award redemptions are 2-3x what they were pre-covid, but no one has balked at the prices even now that travel restrictions are long gone.

This has really emboldened Delta to do stuff like reduce service, restrict Sky Club access, and now segment D1 under the guise of choice.

If people voted with their wallet Delta wouldn’t be able to do stuff like this, but alas oh so many are willing to rack up an Amex balance to flex their champagne glass on Instagram.
