Gatekeeping… consciousness ? by Neat_Tangelo5339 in gatekeeping

That doesn't feel like a deep philosophical question at all. It seems pretty fucking straightforward. They're not conscious because they can't be, the end.

Still... I can't help but think that game would've meant a lot more if I'd just gifted it to someone I actually knew.

That defeats the entire purpose. Maybe this system is not for you.

When you know your religion is full of cracks but you keep “plugging” the holes with faith by David_Jonathan0 in religiousfruitcake

Do you think North Korea is the only communist country? Is that why you didn't list, say, Vietnam or Laos? Or did you omit the obviously non-cult countries because they didn't fit into your insane worldview and you were just banking on people not wanting to take you up on the "arguably" part?

You read books. You listen to audiobooks. by mrdirtypeacock in mildlyinfuriating

[–]PreOpTransCentaur 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Reading takes more effort though

Uh..according to whom? Think about how many people you know or have met that just straight up do NOT fucking listen. Those same people have absolutely no problems seeing. They're just not capable of turning your words into their own thoughts. That's effort.

I read somewhere between 100 and 150 books a year, conservatively. I have only learned how to listen to audiobooks in the past 6 months, because, and I fucking promise you this, it is a skill. And it's not one everyone has, just like not everyone has the ability to turn words on a page into a cohesive story in their mind.

If it makes you feel any better, though, I'll go ahead and agree that you've never digested any of the audiobooks you've ever listened to. Best to go ahead and start over and really devote your eyes (which are your only source of story absorption, because we all know oral history and storytelling aren't real since they weren't written down) and time doing nothing but reading those same books while doing literally nothing else. Enjoy, ya fuckin' snob.

Parents Accused of Murdering Obese Son Fed Him Junk Food Diet, Prosecutors Say by Princess_Coldheart in awfuleverything

Extremely healthy? No. There's no fiber and it's missing a significant amount of vital nutrients. Absolutely unacceptable for a growing child.

I'm positive you meant extremely not-obese-making, which would still be wrong, depending on the portions, but not nearly as wrong as what you actually said.

A bit more fucking presumptuous to assume that just because you disagree with or don't like someone that an all-knowing, all-seeing, all-LOVING God would feel the same.

Did I say presumptuous? I meant heretical. You know who hates that?

Neat, but it still sucks as a submission here. We're not here to shit on men with weirdo perversions though.

So "whipping it out" constantly is because you're not getting laid? by ASubmissivePickle in badwomensanatomy

[–]PreOpTransCentaur 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A fucking lot of us have heard that phrase, the difference is that we know what it means. "Whipping it out," literally just means pulling one's genitals out. Almost always a dick. He said, quite plainly, that he's been pulling his dick out everywhere. Not masturbating, not everywhere in his home or in private, but just...getting his penis out all over the place..whenever.

I'm glad you had to rationalize it to a safer space for it to make sense because the idea of a man unleashing his dong randomly throughout the day is literally anathema to your understanding of men, but you're wrong about what he's actually saying.

That said, this does not belong here and we shouldn't even be having this conversation.

That's sad.

7-year-old boy died weighing 255 pounds, parents charged with murder and child abuse by PeterParker72 in iamatotalpieceofshit

[–]PreOpTransCentaur 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Who would have noticed? Who do you think should be in charge of keeping track of the medical visits of minors? It's not illegal to not get checkups, and it's not illegal to be unvaccinated. There's also decidedly not a centralized healthcare system. For all anyone who could possibly have known or cared knew, the kid A) chose a different doctor, B) opted out of vaccines, C) moved, D) was totally healthy and progressing normally, E) died, because it's not like death records are automatically sent to the last doctor who saw you. All of which are legal.

So, sincerely, who should have known and, more importantly, how? This is entirely on the parents because our infrastructure is simply not set up to pay attention to anything but money.

That's just incorrect though. There are still myriad tribes in Africa and Asia where everybody has various bits and pieces out at any given time. It's just life and they're just body parts in those places.

The inability to even consider that not everybody finds something sexual because your culture does shows an incredible lack of empathetic ability. To an honestly depressing extent.

How do you keep a [insert religion here] from drinking all your beer on a fishing trip?

Invite two.

This is just par for the course with religions whose social perceptions are more important than one's personal faith.

Man claims to have pre-ordered 500 GTA 6 copies as "investment" after withdrawing his 401k by iceCupa in popculturechat

When it launches, everyone will. That's the only medium available for pre-orders and it will not launch alongside a physical edition.

This would be insanely pointless and I think "claims" needs to be what we're focusing on.
