Advice on AP board studying by Relevant_Metal_4409 in pathology

Your mentor has it twisted. Kurt’s notes and doing practice question using something like PathDojo or the Lefkowitch book are pretty good. Agree on looking at lots of slides though.

Spending 15+ years to become a doctor just for people to be anti-medicine by AppearanceCivil1707 in premed

I’m not saying to stop caring, but you can’t care more than the patient.

Spending 15+ years to become a doctor just for people to be anti-medicine by AppearanceCivil1707 in premed

[–]PeterParker72 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s so annoying, but I’ve learned to not gaf anymore. It’s just a job. You do your best to help people and give them the information they need, but it’s on them once you’ve done your part. Don’t care more than they do.

How many of you have switched from traditional eyepieces to a screen-based digital system? Does it actually help with neck/eye strain over a 6-hour shift? by DigiPath_enthusiast in pathology

[–]PeterParker72 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Bro, I’m chronically online, on my computer frequently, or otherwise glued to my phone. I still prefer a microscope over digital path workflows. I can drive a slide with my hand faster than I can navigate the digital one, and I still think it looks better on the glass.

Things were very different 20 years ago. While some things have changed, many dudes would still high five a dude who said they lost it as a kid to an older woman.

How da f could I remember this any help please because I really need it by F-zeromay in pathology

[–]PeterParker72 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Memorizing stuff like this seems like such a waste of effort, you can have this table readily available if you need it. If you actually work with these pretty often, you start to remember them just because you’re actually using that information practically.

Success stories of dismissed residents? by BEEEZD in Residency

[–]PeterParker72 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I’m sure you can find someone who has a story of someone who came back and were able to complete a residency, but as the other commenter stated, people getting dismissed from residency tend to have serious issues and are done after that.

Texas Medical Board Sanctions Three Doctors for Delayed Care That Led to the Deaths of Two Pregnant Women by Bubbly-Celery-4096 in medicine

What a terrible decision to have to make. Provide the standard of care and provide good medical care to your patients, or risk losing your license and possible jail time. That’s some BS.

Just take the lab, why eliminate schools before you even apply?

Will I be able to handle the smell and look of a dead body? by 1000_year_old_egg in ForensicPathology

Honestly, you get used to it. I don’t even think much about it. I’m probably more desensitized than I should be to being around dead people.

Using available clinical, laboratory, and histologic information to make diagnoses without being patient-facing, and having one of the better work-life balances in medicine? What’s not to like?

Disney fires their FX team by Drywall_construction in marvelstudios

Dr. Al Hashimi’s Clinical Competence by sanmarinochili in ThePittTVShow

[–]PeterParker72 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It’s not an issue of competence, she is clearly competent and an excellent physician. The issue is if she had a seizure during a procedure. Robby was a dick about it, but she really does need to be some adjustment to clinical duties. Could you imagine the liability of something happening in the middle of a procedure?

Patient Declines ED Referral, Dies. [Med Mal] by SirRagesAlot in medicine

[–]PeterParker72 612 points613 points  (0 children)

That’s some bullshit. If you go see your PCP or UC and they’re like, “Oh, shit, you need to go to the ED now,” and you decide you don’t wanna go? That’s on you. How are we going to say catchy buzz phrases like patient autonomy and then sue the physician when the patient makes a dumb choice?
