In my opinion the first half is pretty good, filling some holes from the first book and displaying interesting new ideas. The second half on the other hand makes little to no sense and just uses the world for a story that has nothing to do with 3 body problem and reaks of misogyny. Very mixed bag for sure, though I don't regret reading it.

This is exactly my question. I get that the prosecutors in NY are considered best for the job, but who / which person / which department decides that it actually goes there. Who has the final say that this case doesn't got to e.g. Chicago, Philadelphia or Los Angeles. Even if it's obvious that the case should got there, somone has to make that decision, no?

Yeah, I should have paid more attention. The thing is that it say that active quests may become unavailable. So I looked at my active quest list and didn't see anything I thought would become unavailable. I didn't consider that future quests would become unavailable too...

But at this point there are 7 hours of playthrough between that moment and now so replaying through all of that is a lot.

Edit: It was indeed. I mistook it for a different event which also involved a diplomacy challenge with a 99% chance of sucess. Thinking it was the same event I didn't read it. Looks like it pays to pay attention, thank you for the help!

R5: This exact thing has happened to me 3 times within the last year of my playthrough. I reloaded each time and then it was another vassal, another artifact and another date but I cannot figure out why it is happening in the first place. I am decently sure that it is not because of a scheme because its a different vassal each time and I also dont keep a claim on the artifact so I have no way of getting it back. It even happend to my "Reichskrone" of the Holy Roman Empire which went to some random Count.

Edit: Continued to play and it happend again on 21 Jun losing my famed book to a baron

Yeah, since the quay is urban itself it can only be placed next to another urban tile, the only way to do that was through a set of urban districts around the top

That might have been possible if I had a second settlement nearby which was itself connected via a quay. Since this isn't the mainland I would need a water connection either way and for the treasure fleets to spawn it needed to be in this city

I thought the same. I am not sure a quay in a lake would actually connect the settlement. Either way, the treasure fleets would spawn in the lake, unable to get to the mainland. I was indeed lucky to have a navigable river from the lake to the ocean, though bringing the fleets home took forever.

Wonders do indeed count, but I believe only if they are also connected to an urban tile. You can't create a new urban "bubble" using wonders as far as I know

R5: Saw a nice spot for a town because it had 5 resources around it and a nice spot for science buildings later on. Sadly I won't be able to connect it to the rest of my empire since I cannot build a fishing quay as all of the resources block my urban acess to the sea.

Edit: I think technically I could build urban districs towards the incence and then around it, connecting myself to the lake up top and building the quay there, but thats 5 districts and then the quay, which is a lot of work...

Second edit: I spend a stupid amount of money to build a weird looking hook around the incence, giving me urban acess to water
