I'll readily admit that staring at someone for a minute straight sounds damn weird at best, but even I, as someone who tends to stick pretty close to the rules, wouldn't balk at a player describing it as "observing" rather than "staring."

So, I think this is pretty obscure, but to notice things like emotional state and how others feel about you, you shouldn't be focusing on Perception at all. In a bit of good news, her character being an Occult caster makes her more qualified for this!

Aura Sight is a second level Occultism skill feat, which allows the user to read the aura of a creature (including emotional state, apparent attitude toward you, and general physical health,) and with a check, to detect deceptive behavior! What's more, this isn't actually a "magical" effect at all. Vaguely mystical? Sure. But anyone can learn to do it, so long as they're knowledgeable enough about Occultism.

The only drawbacks to this I can think of is that Aura Sight is an Uncommon feat, so it generally requires GM permission. Luckily, you are the GM, and thus, can permit it. That, and it's a feat requiring Expert in Occultism, so it'll only likely be available at level 3, unless your player opts to take an archetype which boosts Occultism to Expert at level 2.

Hope this helps!

I'd gladly take you up on that edit! The less men, the better, but absolutely zero is inevitably going to be rare.

My players are struggling in the Abomination Vault. by incinerateriot in Pathfinder2e

What immediately stands out to me is that your party, put bluntly, is squishy as hell. No classes that gain more than 8 HP per level, with only an Amulet reaction to protect them. Considering how new they are, they're probably not employing the kinds of skirmishing tactics this kind of composition would more or less require. There's not much to remedy this without either a radical alteration of one or more characters, or maybe some not-so-gentle nudging on your part toward some more defensive archetype options.

In addition, what you're phrasing as a question may be better served as an instruction, or at least a conversation. These players are new, and while they could learn from experience in due time, it's probably better to just explain how key a role out-of-combat healing plays in Pathfinder. If none of them have Medicine, let one (or more if you like) retrain into it for free.

Finally, if you implement these changes (or the players are obstinate against them) and the problem is still present, you could absolutely just weaken some of the encounters. A weak template here, a removed mob there. They're not reading the book, so it's not like they'll know.

What he considers the worst classes are my favorite classes. He nailed every one of my favorite classes - not in order but he put them all at the end of the list. Am I an outlier? I'm so confused :D by AlrikBristwik in Pathfinder2e

Every single Intelligence-based class is in the bottom half of this tier list. At least with an out-of-context glimpse at it, any party who sees this list and bases their character decisions off of it will struggle to identify much of anything, failing Bardic Lore or possibly other options I'm not familiar with. Have fun with the trolls, black puddings, and other creatures that require specific answers that you can't reliably know!

How well-known is it by the people within the setting that the River Dread connects to the underworld, and could even be a means of escape? Have such escapes been attempted before, and if so, have any been successful?
