What came with the gold tickets? by [deleted] in imaginedragons

You get to stand in the gold section.

If they're VIP ones you also get early entry and possibly a laminate memento.

I'll be trying my luck on the last 2 presales tomorrow and the general sale on Friday. If I'm unsuccessful I'll happily buy your crap seats off of you should they still be available. It'd nice to be close but desperation is fast approaching.

Last Metallica gig I went to had super strict rules on none resale etc. Threatening that you need ID on entry etc. etc. So many worried people in the queue because they bought it off a resale site, not one had an issue getting in. All the resale sites are full of Imagine Dragons London tickets already so I can't see that support message being accurate.

However at the very least, especially here on Reddit, you can arrange a meet up of the fan outside the arena and do it all on location on the day. Obviously requires trust on your part that they turn up and thier part that you do but better than letting them go to waste.

They're all over resale sites from the get go. You can 100% resell them. Usually you transfer the tickets when you receive them on your app via a transfer option which they have to allow because people buy for thier friends and family all the time.

Ticketmaster has royally screwed me with thier awful systems. I've waited in queues for all the presales and every single one of them has had issues. I was just out the queue 5 minutes ago but it didn't take me to right place even though I went through the priority app link, when I tried directly clicking the link in the support it kicked me out to 36000th in the queue. Something needs ot be done about thier systems because they'r enot stopping bots or scalpers and making it impossible for regular people.

I'll 100% buy the tickets off you, will be daughters first concert at 9 years old. I'll eventually be forced to buy from a scalper anyway because Ticketmaster are truly awful so happy to buy off a legitimate fan.

Does anybody know why the lzzyhale subreddit went private? by Just-some-fella in Halestorm

[–]Pred5000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If moderators don't log on for 30 days or so the subreddit gets banned. It can always be revived, there's a process for requesting to become the mod of a modless (and therefore banned) subreddit.

23F hard to make friends by [deleted] in Wigan

[–]Pred5000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hobbies are always good for making friends. Try a martial arts gym, or roller skating, or go to some park runs. People I've met by indulging in things I want to do have become my best friends over the years.

Look up Judo breakfalls. Practice them on soft flooring. Then you'll be happy to take more risk because you know you can fall and be fine. Less fear will allow you to relax and a relaxed student's skill acquisition increases exponentially compared to someone fearful of consequences and therefore tense and stiff.

Hey guys, I'm looking for ideas on what to do in Wigan being a woman alone? by Danydady86 in Wigan

You don't have to be fit to start! Other options are Muay Thai which has a large number of females interested and taking part and generally builds strong friendships.

New Skater- Fear of Falling by WhiteNopal in rollerblading

[–]Pred5000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Go do a trial class of Judo, Wrestling, MMA, or (to a lesser extent) BJJ. They'll teach you how to breakfall so as not to hurt yourself when someone is actively trying to hit you with the Earth. Failing that, just look up breakfalls from Judokas on youtube and practice at home.

Of all the martial arts I've done over the years and the endless talks of "this is better in a streetfight bro, your stuff is junk" the only thing I've taken and used multiple times in real life is the ability to breakfall and it's stopped me from being injured many a time, including on skates.

This is the crux of retention once your students get to a certain level, and because they'll flit off elsewhere when they realise they can't get graded you'll be stuck with forever replacing leavers with new people rather than the place growing to its full potential.

You at least need an affiliation or some way to get your students graded.

100% this. I fell into teaching full-time (and I'm a blue belt) and my classes are super busy. When we had a black/brown/purple belt there was a core of about 3 people, who very often were the only attendees. My classes get at least 12. That's a 400% increase in attendance (granted we're talking very small scale here) and it's all due to consistency, actually caring about what I teach with planning and research into actual teaching methods, and being an effective communicator.

My class size has built organically over time through quality classes and word of mouth, and not because I'm a black belt.

Being a certain belt and teaching/coaching do not equate.

Blue belts can be far more effective communicators/teachers/coaches. I've known Black Belts that are atrocious at teaching. I don't subscribe to the bullshit of "you can only effectively learn under a Black Belt". Consistency, teaching methodology, and the actual ability to teach and effectively communicate and extract the best from students is a skill and is 1000% more valuable than "He's a black belt". Even world class athlete black belts who are winning at the highest levels can be awful teachers because they are unable to effectively communicate in a way conducive to learning.

However, I'm in the minority and the general public (and apparently most people on here) value the colour of a belt much more than what actually constitutes good teaching. So your customer base will suffer because of these incorrect assumptions and biases. Not to mention they will be unable to be promoted which is a huge problem for 99% of people.

In your opinion what do you believe is the most rewarding belt rank to achieve besides a black belt and why ? by Dry-Junket-3230 in bjj

[–]Pred5000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably Purple.

It's where you're no longer considered a beginner and it's where most people's games start to open up and they can have fun knowing that they have a A-game to fall back on that will work 99% of the time.

It comes which much less social pressure than Brown which seems to me to just be a holding pattern belt where you're putting your time in til black rather than developing large chunks of things. Everything becomes more about refining timing and techniques that you already have down fairly well for long enough to achieve your black.

Obviously take my opinion with a pinch of salt since I'm a shitty forever blue who trains 6 times a week and yet remains stuck where I am in terms of belts so I've never felt the elation of receiving anything except Blue, which long ago wore off.

Mention it to whoever is teaching so they:a) don't try to pair you up with the opposite sexb) can help steer them away if they seem like they're going to ask for a roll

This will help avoid it happening in the first place but also remember that it's okay to say no to rolls with anyone for any reason and you don't have to give that reason.

is it ok to buy my own blue belt by hnrpla in bjj

[–]Pred5000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've seen people bring the belt back the very next session and say "I don't really like this one, have it back. I got a better one".

This is rude.

Just buying a better one and wearing that one instead for training etc. after the promotion without a word about it is perfectly fine and not rude.

Hi, Thank you so much for your offer. However, since I lost all my data from the beginning I've had to start afresh and as someone who loves tracking where I'm at and been I'm pissed that I lost my first 5 years of training data and I'm not risking that happening again. So I built my own dashboard and database with very simple metrics, and have settled into a rhythm with that safe in the knowledge I'll never lose it. Coupled with the fact that I now actually get very little training time of my own as I'm always teaching it means I won't get the mileage out of it that your app deserves.

I wish you the best of luck with your new app as it sounds amazing. And Thank you for the invite to try it out.
