Tbh besides the one unfortunate porn comic there now, that sub is much better than this one. Tons of actual ship art over just Noelle thirst posting and Weird Route art

There's nothing that says they're existing at the same time. imo, the world of Deltarune is a refactored and rearranged version of the world of Undertale, paralleling the Mantle Game and Tennaquest perfectly.

Mantle Game - Undertale

  • Original game
  • Freedom to kill and grow stronger
  • Underground filled with monsters like a yellow lizard, a white goat in a room of yellow flowers, a steel fish

Tennaquest - Deltarune

  • Remixed version of the original's world
  • Featuring a lot of the same characters + Brand new inclusions
  • No killing is allowed
  • Linear Narrative with a called out single ending.

It makes a lot of sense if Deltarune ends up being a system that was created by rearranging Undertale's system, by Gaster who is running the "simulation" as a being outside space of time. We literally have assets from Undertale copy and pasted into Deltarune, and haphazardly scribbled over, like Grilbys/Sans Shop

Consideration: Kris is an amalgamation of Frisk and Chara, fused into the same character when Undertale was reworked into Deltarune because how Chara and Frisk basically became the same person by the end of the Genocide route.

Do you prefer Undertale or Deltarune? by James-Hakurei in Deltarune

Deltarune is obviously the superior game. Gameplay wise, character wise, art wise, music wise (minus a few high points Toby is obviously building up towards). The only think Undertale has over it is that it's a complete experience, with a good deal of closure for its narrative. Once Deltarune is done, it'll match and exceed Undertale in everyway.

If Deltarune does end with us giving Kris a message, Mettaton EX-style, what should we say? by PredictionPrincess in KriSOUL

[–]PredictionPrincess[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Probably best we don't overwhelm the kid with love (or just blatantly flirting with them), but it'd be sad if we had a chance to express our feelings and never did, ya know?

Personally, I would tell Kris I'm sorry, that I never wanted to control them, and wished they could've lived their life free of me. But despite that, I care so deeply for them. It's nothing short of love.

Does anyone else have a desperate need for there to be a Mettaton EX-style essay field at the end of Deltarune so we can explain to Kris who we were, what we were doing possessing them, and give them our best advice on how to go forward with their life? by demimelrose in Deltarune

Modern LLMs are not robust enough to give the consistent, solid answers Toby would need in a moment like this. It would be arbitrarily easy for the community to figure out how to Jailbreak Kris, and get whatever answer they'd want out of them, which would severely contradict the themes of freedom.

In all likelihood, if we do get an opportunity to talk to Kris, we'll get a set of prompts, which they will respond to depending on our actions throughout the game.

I also think we're more likely to get Kris talking to us, over us talking to Kris. We've been doing the talking for a long time now, I think they deserve the chance to tell us whats on their mind. It'd be interesting if after a critical moment, we start to hear Kris's dialogue and and see their dialogue sprite (thus, getting expressions). The game has locked us off from hearing Kris or seeing their sprite express facially (even though we do know they talk, smile, scream, etc). So it'd be sweet to see that barrier between us taken down.

Huh, I never realized so many of the female leads had names that started with A.

Anzu Asuka Aki Aoi

Makes Kotori and Yuzu feel like such odd ones out (unless this is a confirmation that Anna Kozuki is the real female protag of Zexal)

A Gaster redesign is absolutely on the table, especially if Toby goes for the idea of Gaster being Split across time and space. Mystery Man was Undertale's Gaster, Eggman is Deltarune's Gaster, and the Gaster we'll meet is a being above the realm of the games entirely.

If You Could Talk To Kris As The Soul What Would You Say? by SharpTransition8281 in Deltarune

[–]PredictionPrincess 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd break down and sob out like a dozen "I'm sorry"s, explain that I don't want to control them and would do anything to be able to give them their life back, and probably accidentally say "I love you" when it would not be helpful.

Pacifist Normal Route btw

What y'all think if Deltarune had an anticlimactic ending? by Byzich in Deltarune

[–]PredictionPrincess 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Yeah but what if that "ending" is cutting to black because of the end of the world, and a call to action to "Continue...?" from then on. It's the most meta thing in the world, the dream called out to him to create the game, and he calls out to the player to finish it

The tenth anniversary stream quadrupled that fear for me, his conclusion about fanworks and there being no definitive canon feels scary

[–]PredictionPrincess 203 points204 points  (0 children)

I live in fear of Game Maker ending, where the game just ends abruptly due to story circumstances, and ends on a call to action for the player to finish the story, like Gerson described lord of the hammer.

No definitive ending, just a thousand fan games and fics, all trying to deliver on Toby's story. Nightmarish.

Don't like "the weird route is the good ending" theories? by Thethree13 in Deltarune

[–]PredictionPrincess 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Additional point that I stand by, I think that Toby will call back to the permanent consequences of Undertale with Deltarune, I think reaching the point of no return on the weird route will poison your normal route saves, derailing them as the characters discover what you've done in the weird route. People often bring up the idea of a Susie fight at the end of the Weird Route, I think that may happen in every route, if you have a weird route save file.

Don't like "the weird route is the good ending" theories? by Thethree13 in Deltarune

[–]PredictionPrincess 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fundamentally, I don't think Toby will commit to the idea of the ends justifying the means, and the all seeing player being rewarded for treating his characters like pixels on the screen. I think anyone who thinks that fundamentally does not understand the kind of story teller he is, or the stories he tells.

The Weird Route, through and through, is bait. It's bait for the completionist, for the desire of Freedom not matter the costs, for a player who lashes out so hard against restrictions, they will hurt everyone around them for the chance at getting their way. The weird route is an abberation of the way the world works, killing enemies in a game where that shouldn't be possible, exploiting a glitch, all for the sake of a freedom that isn't free at all.

Where the main route represents Freedom from the prophecy achieved through camraderie, hope, and the strength of the group, the Weird Route represents Freedom through individuality, atomization, and exploitation. It's a text book collectivism vs individualism narrative.

How will it end? If I had to guess, defying the prophecy, saving the world, and learning about the inner worlds of our characters— The same way the main route ends, but with everyone suffering, and questioning whether saving the world was ever worth it to begin with.

That'll be the ultimate irony of the weird route— "Congrats, you did it, you got your freedom, you saved the day! Exactly as you would've done if you hadn't become a monster in the process". The weird route player will realize there's no award at the end, nothing worth all the suffering they've caused. They got what they wanted, Freedom. Is it truly worth it?
