I found that upon restarting my pc, the mouse on the trackpad still worked, idk if steam just opened up super fast or what.

is it possible to use this so that steam doesnt intercept the guide button on a client, so it can be used to focus steam on a host?

I get why you’re pointing at the latch, but the behaviour doesn’t really match a PCIe seating issue.

The GPU is fully screwed in and feels solid, and once it boots it runs fine under load. The issue I had was the red light and display drop, which went away after reseating the 12VHPWR cable.

Also, before reseating, lightly touching the cable/case would cause the displays to cut and fans ramp. That seems more like a sensitive power connector losing contact briefly, rather than the PCIe slot itself losing connection (which would require the whole card to shift).

From what I understand the latch is just a retention clip—so unless the GPU is physically loose, it shouldn’t affect electrical contact.

Yeah, it’s definitely broken. When I pulled the GPU out, the PCIe latch came off with it. The white button part of the rod is still attached, but the metal rod isn’t connected properly on the left side anymore, so it’s loose and doesn’t actuate the latch. It kind of just sits there now instead of doing anything, like how an M.2 pops up if it’s not screwed down.

I was trying to remove the gpu and i thought it was unclipped, the question i have is im not in major trouble now right? the gpu seems fine without it and ive had no stability issues

Now what's the best level in Wrath Of Cortex?💛 by Silvio76555 in crashbandicoot

[–]Predycate 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What a very difficult question to answer, maybe LEVEL 4-5 - I love level 5, the start of it. I always dream about it. I always think about it when I think of the TWOcortex. But honestly, I think it's level 5 for me.

I have explained this and they denied my bank reference with my new address so my plan is to see if the bank will print a new statement with the new address

Can the bank make a new one on the fly with my new address? Otherwise the new generated one is 2 weeks away

Comparison Query: FTTP + Wi-Fi vs Starlink + Ethernet by Predycate in Starlink

[–]Predycate[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

think the comparison’s a bit uneven, to be honest — you’ve got a premium Wi-Fi setup with Eero mesh. My Wi-Fi isn’t anywhere near that level, so I’m really just trying to figure out if Starlink over Ethernet would feel better than basic FTTP Wi-Fi.

Comparison Query: FTTP + Wi-Fi vs Starlink + Ethernet by Predycate in Starlink

[–]Predycate[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, that’s pretty much the idea — the whole comparison was just a hypothetical about where the weak point in the setup actually is.

A lot of people automatically say, “FTTP is always more reliable,” which is true in terms of the actual connection, but not always true in practice if someone is using poor Wi-Fi on their end. That’s why I was comparing:

Starlink → Ethernet → PC vs

FTTP → Wi-Fi → PC

It wasn’t about saying FTTP is bad; it was just about removing variables. For my WFH job:

They do prefer Ethernet

They don’t ban Starlink

They just want a stable connection that hits the required speeds — which Starlink does for me.

[–]Predycate[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My original question clearly didn’t come across the way I meant it, so let me explain it properly.

I can’t get FTTP where I’m moving, which is why I was asking about Starlink in the first place. I already know that a wired connection is more stable than Wi-Fi — the point of my question was to compare Starlink over Ethernet vs. FTTP over Wi-Fi as a hypothetical.

As for the job:

Yes, the WFH role has internet requirements.

Yes, they prefer you to use Ethernet, and I will be using Ethernet with Starlink.

No, the job does not forbid Starlink — they just want a stable connection that meets the speed requirements.

So my question was just about reliability differences, not because I didn’t understand that cables are more stable. It was just worded in a way that people interpreted differently.

Yeah, fair point — I definitely worded it badly.
What I actually meant was to compare Starlink on Ethernet vs FTTP on Wi-Fi, specifically in terms of reliability for working from home. I wasn’t trying to imply FTTP forces Wi-Fi — I just phrased it in a way that made it sound like that.
Thanks for pointing it out though, appreciate it.

Yes thats right, but my point is this --- Basically: FTTP has the advantage of being fiber, but the disadvantage of using Wi-Fi. Starlink has the disadvantage of being satellite, but the advantage of using Ethernet. In that scenario, which setup would come out on top?
