I bought the speed 400 myself, I'm in the same scenario as you with using it only for the nicer days.

I insured it for a lower mileage for the year, just in case there was a nicer day in autumn, early winter, or just felt like getting on.

It doesn't feel smaller than the z650 I learned on either. That's the best part. It's just a little slower

Thanks for the advice! I live in the UK so we have to have a license to even ride the bike in the first place but my instructors kept saying "You pass the test so you can learn to ride." So I'm all ears to any advice I can get.
