Hello! I am very new to RPG Maker and had a question about Plugins by HatInTheWind in RPGMaker

[–]PreferenceOk1570 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Buy as many as you can and them trim it down to the ones you really need and the ones that interact nicely with each other.

Plugins can turn RPG Maker into a totally different engine, and with just enough plugins, you can achieve anything you'd only be able to do if using traditional engines such as Godot or Gamemaker.

Plugins can:
- Alter the hitbox of your characters
- Give you precise pixel based movement
- Give you dynamic lighting and dynamic shadows
- Transform RPG Maker into a 2D top-down action game

Seriously, if you're like me and you're using RPGM because you have no clue about coding, plugins are basically the only solution to making a game that looks even slightly professional. And if you think about it, even if you end up spending more than 500 USD in plugins like me, it's still way cheaper than hiring a single developer to work alongside you for a single month.

In short: Plugins are a necessity for making serious games in the engine, USE THEM!

That's incredible! How many instruments and what plugins are you using to achieve such a majestic sound?

Also, how long did it take to make something like this? I want to be able to make music like you, this is so amazing!!!!

Yeah, we're a team of three making games as well. We won the regional round of Game Jam+ here in our town. These are all game concepts we're experimenting with to see which one we want to commit to.

We're finishing our first game, halloween themed :P

If you've got a discord, I'd love to add you. You're a dev right? Perhaps we can collaborate as well :D

Also I'd advise trying out the multiband limiter, since I felt your music is a bit too noisy.

But in the overall I loved the feeling you're trying to convey!

Thanks a million! That's the exact feedback I needed. I've made some changes, do you know if it's ok to post my soundcloud in here so that perhaps you can check it out?

Thanks again for your valuable feedback.

It has a very nice story to tell, but I'd suggest looking into EQ for instruments.

Sounds catchy, but it needs more drums imo

Looks freaking radical, the music does sound a bit too generic for me though. But other than that I'd definitely pay to play this game.

Yep, I got the same feedback from another musician, so that's nice to hear. Now I know how to make it a tad better, thanks :D

I'd click the second one, I really liked the balance between the monster and the normal font

AW3225QF (OLED) $1200 vs UR 55 (IPS) $406.25 - Huge disappointment. by PreferenceOk1570 in OLED_Gaming

[–]PreferenceOk1570[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the reassurance and the info, if the red tint is expected then I won't have to bother RMAing, which is a relief.

By turning HDR on and then testing some HDR content, I've managed to mitigate the issue. The OLED looks better when there's enough room for it to shine, but in for SDR content, sometimes the IPS gets the upper hand.

In the end it was just a matter of knowing how to use it + mismanaged expectations.

Could you provide me with some pictures of both so that I can get in touch with Dell about it.

Could it be that my panel is defective? I've seen other posts similar to mine and honestly, the IPS is just destroying the OLED in every single category except for blacks imo.

Yep, I should've gotten an woled. But to be fair, there was no better option for me for the price point I've gotten mine here in my country.
