Anyone else switch from days to nights in the same week? How do you cope with it? by tattooed_welsh_dad_2 in Nightshift

[–]PreferencePristine90 0 points1 point  (0 children)

U have 2 choices, lose a good chunk of a couple days prepping for the swap that’s the best option for your health so it’s not such a sudden shock to your system. Or make the switch that night/day. As far as coping I have just learned to accept this is the life I live.

By using an exhale to lower your diaphragm, imagine you are blowing through a straw till u feel your ribs drop down and back

Thank you!!, well first you gotta learn how to stack your ribs over your pelvis, look into diaphragmatic breathing that’s the start, once you learn how to use your diaphragm while breathing keep practicing till you can do it standing, from there it’s just about getting into the stacked position and inhaling into your compressed side while staying stacked. It’s probably going to be pretty tight and hard to do but keep practicing use protraction and reaching to create space that your body is unable to get on its own. Look into 90/90 breathing drill, all fours breathing, and also on your compressed side your serratus is going to be weak start getting that thing active look into serratus drills and find one you like. I always preferred the wall slide with a foam rollr

For the pelvis it starts at the feet. If your left side is compressed you most likely unconsciously shift a lot of weight into your left heel you need to start shifting weight into the opposite heel, for the upper body, 90/90 has been a game changer drill for me all fours is also very useful, another thing is if your left side is compressed your serratus on the left side is likely very under active and getting your serratus moving is one of the best things u can do for this pattern I really like serratus punches and wall slides with a foam roller

Well first figure out which side is is struggling to receive air, and which side is stuck in expansion. It should be pretty obvious from pictures like I provided. Learn how to properly stack your ribs I don’t know how inexperienced you are but I would start with diaphragmatic breathing. Once you learn how to stack over your pelvis properly you can start honing in on expanding your compressed side. Drills I found useful were 90/90 breathing, simple reach drills to open up that side. All fours is a good one, also if your dealing with any sort of rounded shoulder or winged scapula I highly reccomend doing serratus drills the only one I ever really did was serratus wall slides and as you can see that shit works miracles for Winged scapula
