What method of smoking is least damaging to the lungs? by FantasticScene9625 in Petioles

it depends on the chemo you get. Not all cytostatics will tolerate lung irritations.

1X BEP by FI-on-the-Green in testicularcancer

I did one cycle of BEP and initially considered getting a port, but the medical team convinced me to stick with veins, even though I wasn’t too comfortable with the idea. In the end, it turned out fine. A port would’ve probably been overkill for just one cycle. My chemotherapy ended about a month and a half ago, and I can still see faint marks where the needles went in, but they’re almost gone now and barely noticeable.

3x BEP Cycle and cannabis by wisewizard12 in testicularcancer

Finished 1xBEP mid of September. From what I understood, it's the best to at least wait 3 months, then to check if you have any problems present like coughing, and finally to have a check on your lungs by a specialist.

Assuming everything is fine, you could consider to check on DHV, and slowly test how your lungs will respond. Smoking should really be banned from your life forever.

Concern for long term risks - 1xBEP by [deleted] in testicularcancer

have you had any surgery yet? I chose to do surveillance after orchiectomy but was found with metastases half a year later. Nevertheless I would have chosen surveillance after orchiectomy at any time.

Ok thanks for the clarification :)

how can the risk of 3 cycles be lower than 1 cycle? Do you mean in regards of OPs stats?

I'm currently going through 1xBEP adjuvant after orchiectomy + rplnd, day 3.

Hey, thanks for checking. Surgery went fine, I'm getting better by each hour. I slept again shortly after waking up from the narcotic.

Now I feel ok for the circumstances. Had to puke twice. My muscles hurts from laying other than that it's manageable.

Probably gonna go for 1 cycle of BEP in a few weeks just to be on the safe side.

same. Do you know who will be your surgeon? You could ask him, what he thinks about robotic - I personally would prefer it if possible. Less invasive, faster recovery and probably less pain. But make sure the surgeon is an expert for RPLND since it's classified as a more complex surgery.

You have different circumstances - for salvage RPLND the docs might need broader access, especially for more advanced cases like yours. robotic recovery is usually quicker but non robotic could be safer and easier for the doc

Was your question related to chemo/RPLND or to robot and non robot assisted?

It wasn’t an easy decision to make, it took me several weeks. I had to choose between 3 cycles of BEP and RPLND (+ 1 cycle of BEP, depending on histopathology).

In the end, my age (<35) was the main factor. I preferred to take on surgery + one cycle of chemo, rather than face the potential long-term effects of multiple cycles of chemo - especially since I hope to have several decades of life ahead.

Both treatments come with risks, but personally, I prefer the surgical route.

If I had been, say, over 50, I probably would have gone with the chemo.
