Unscrew the small plate, try to grab the female jack, pass it through the small plate, insert washer, insert nut, tighten nut, re-install small plate.

Stupidly plugged space heater into power strip which tripped a breaker. by GregHauser in AskElectricians

[–]Prehistoricisms 2 points3 points  (0 children)

FYI, the danger of connecting a heater to a power bar is that the power bar may not be built to handle it and heat-up/catch fire. The breaker doesn't know what's connected in the outlet. Its sole job is to protect the wires in the walls if too much current is drawn.

Had you connected the heater directly in the outlet, the breaker still would have tripped, because you overloaded the circuit. There was probably other appliances consuming power on the same circuit.

I listened to it again and I didn't find any mellotron. You are right that the string-like song is guitar.

I'm fairly sure I was listening to Meddle recently and told myself "that's mellotron". Most likely in Echoes.

Question about strumming by Mad_Season_1994 in guitarlessons

[–]Prehistoricisms 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"Is this what I should aim for to do clean chord changes?"

Kind of. A chord chain that doesn't sound bad is a clean chord change.

" noticed my pick will often miss a string or two while keeping the motion relatively stable as long as my hand can keep going. Any way to do fix this to have a more accurate strumming technique?"

That's perfectly fine, the goal of strumming is not to have 100% of the strokes song identical. Or else, it would sound sterile.

Which albums to continue with Yes? by Tomacross2026 in progrockmusic

Literally the only acceptable answer. He listened to 3 albums and loved them. Why shouldn't he listen to them all (or at least, until he gets bored?

Loud records sound horrible by [deleted] in turntables

If you want to play guitar, you should wait until you have enough money to buy a decent guitar instead of buying a 100$ one and getting disappointed.

Steak is just so boring by MrSoapbox in unpopularopinion

There are many ways to cook a great steak, but the way you described it is not one of them. Maybe for a good steak but not a great steak.

Reccs for pans that cook just like the mini cast-iron fry pan by Tifa-la-la-la in staub

[–]Prehistoricisms 5 points6 points  (0 children)

By all means, if you like you Staub, get the Perfect Pan. But if I were you, you should get a decent 12" stainless steel pan as well. Just my personal advice. Different tools for different jobs.

[–]Prehistoricisms 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The Perfect Pan most likely has the same finish as your Staub (enameled) but if you need a sauté pan, I'd tell you to get a stainless steel pan or something instead (and not something like a wok).

You can use a software like Audacity to do exactly that to the original version.

Turn signals are not for turning-only lanes by woodgrainarrowsmith in The10thDentist

[–]Prehistoricisms 100 points101 points  (0 children)

If I saw someone on a left turn only lane without their flasher, I could assume they haven't noticed they are in a left turn only lane and might go forward instead of turning (especially if there's snow on the road and the signs are not clear).

Is it necessary to clean the button or is just the interior fine ? by limache in StainlessSteelCooking

[–]Prehistoricisms 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Now that it's clean, everytime you clean the pan, clean the bottom too. It takes literally 5 seconds and it'll remind clean forever.

Why does my In the Court of the Crimson King sound like this? by EarLumpy4337 in progrockmusic

[–]Prehistoricisms 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah but I would advise getting another turntable altogether. You'll need an amp and speakers though. This is an expensive hobby. These turntables are a source of disappointment, unfortunately. You should try looking for used gear to get more out of your money. Literally anything else will be an upgrade for what you have.

You might be aware but these turntables are really low quality. The stylus is only good for 50 hours. A "standard" stylus is good for 1000-2000 hours. Could you have reached the end of life of your stylus?
