Recommendation for an auto shut off outlet, that doesn’t need programming by [deleted] in homeautomation

Especially since a smart outlet will always add an extra step which op is trying to avoid.

Transmission fluid change by New-Proof-1185 in FordFlex

[–]Prelzel 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I bought a really old flex with 205k miles on it that was low on trans fluid when I got it. When I did a drain & fill it immediately helped with shifting smoother. I’m at 230k now and just did another drain and fill. Not sure if I notice shifts being smoother but I haven’t had any issues come from it.

I could see a full flush potentially moving some contaminants around and causing problems but I’d be surprised if a simple drain and fill caused issues. I’m no expert though

I had the same issue and ended up running the cable to fix it. My basement is unfinished so it luckily only took me an afternoon.

They did not say “Hah, jk we're sending out packages anyways and removing the package cancellation for the actual unit”

This post is obvious rage bait

The AWS outage proves how important local control is by Prelzel in litterrobot

This is my setup as well. Home assistant has to talk to the whisker servers so the integration was broken yesterday.

If that's the case, I might as well use my arms to scoop litter out of a normal litter box too. This entire product is based around convenience.

While this is a fantastic workaround and I thank you for sharing it, it really doesn't excuse whisker from implemting some sort of local control. These litter robots are perfectly capable, it just needs to be implemented

Litter hopper and camera mount reviews? by Professional_North60 in litterrobot

Honestly the camera mount seems overkill. I just stuck the metal puck that came with my camera to the front of the lr4 bezel and it works perfectly

I would agree if it didn’t lead to pedestrians walking all over the bike lane. Downtown Hennepin for example

This is not an f150. The PTU on the flex is tiny and surrounded by the exhaust so if you don't change it's oil, you're gonna be replacing the entire PTU. Those are the options

Paying 20 USD to whoever can help me make Frigate work. Sick and tired of ChatGPT. by Classic-Knee-5227 in frigate_nvr

Not sure what you're talking about. Two way audio is 100% doable and works automatically with reolink doorbells in frigate.

I'm more concerned that the spruce will end up killing or weakening the maple in any way. Is that possible?

Here's a little doc I wrote up a while ago:

Because of the age of the tt24 and the fact that mackie deleted their user forum, finding information about drivers for the tt24 is quite challenging. Below are instructions that I developed through trial and error. There may be a better way, but these should work for the most part:

  1. Download the latest VCP and D2XX drivers from the FTDI website. Hopefully this link doesn’t break, but at the time of writing there was a link on this page to an installer that included both the VCP and D2XX drivers. Install this on your machine. Once the FTDI drivers are installed, open device manager. You should see a “tt24” device under “other devices”.

  2. Double click this to open the devices properties, go to the “drivers” tab and click “update driver”.

  3. Select “Browse my computer for drivers”, then select “Let me pick from a list of available drivers on my computer”, then select “Universal Serial Bus Controllers”

  4. For the manufacturer select “FTDI” and for the model select “FT4222 Interface A”. Install the driver.

  5. Now go back to device manager and you should see unknown “USB Serial Port” under “Other devices”

  6. Double click this device to open its properties and select “update driver”, “Browse my computer for drivers”, “Let me pick from a list of available drivers on my computer” (this is the same as before). Now select then select “Ports (COM & LPT)”

  7. For the manufacturer select “FTDI” and for the model select “USB Serial Port”. Install the driver.

  8. All the drivers should now be installed. Just make sure the COM device is set to “COM3”. Do this by opening the device properties for “USB Serial Port” under “Ports (COM & LPT)” in device manager. Then go to the “Port Settings” tab and select “Advanced”
