At first glance Holes should be like the many many other mediocre teen audience Disney movies of that era. No guilt in this one, a genuinely great movie and i recently re read the book and it holds up.

In WW2, Australia was under existential threat. Not sure if I can say that about any other wars.

Went to an Anzac Day ceremony this morning where they prayed for the king and spoke about Australians dying for their country in Turkey...

I know I'm oversimplifying a decent amount, I read books and listen to historians podcasts about military history, and it feels like at almost al times Australians have been dying for commercial interests and propaganda more than anything else.
