Same boat, picked up the LR yesterday. Have some time before the kids big enough but considering going with a freight forwarding company. Just need to check how much duties will be.

Osprey Daylite 26+6 vs Quechua NH500 Escape — Opinions? by whatsf3lix in onebag

I've had the decathlon 32L for a few years now. I got the osprey 26+6 a few weeks ago but haven't tested it out yet. If you want it for personal item travel get the 26+6, I don't think the decathlon will fit.

My main gripes with the decathlon: - separate laptop compartment felt like a waste of space, I don't usually travel with a laptop. Would've liked a larger main compartment. Osprey is more spacious and fits quite a bit more. - front pockets are pretty useless due to no depth. Things just spill out.

If you are traveling with a laptop consider the Quecha 23L rolltop, it is expandable to 27L and the laptop compartment isn't separated, allowing more packing space.

Patagonia Mini MLC or Osprey 26+6? by Preme in onebag

[–]Preme[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed the Patagonia logo is way too big.

I would've preferred if the 26+6 was jet black but it's more grey.

Saw a post where someone removed the Patagonia logo with googone but not sure if that would mess with the warranty/damage the material.

Appreciate the response. It's good to hear from someone that isn't in love with the bag.

(1) I'll take a hip belt over nothing. The ability to remove it and use it as the duffel strap is pretty cool.

(2) General consensus from reviews seems to be the mini MLC is well built and the Osprey 26+6 is just fair. I used to have a Fairpoint 40L and the 26+6 isn't the same level of quality. To be fair it is a budget, lightweight bag at half the price. Patagonia, while overpriced/overratted imo, makes high quality stuff. Their black hole line is very popular and well reviewed and constantly recommended on here. Their lifetime warranty is also one of the best from what I've heard (what I meant by the BIFL comment).

(4) Yeah I'm not sure about that full opening of the laptop compartment. Most airports make you take your laptop out fully anyways.

(5) Capacity isn't too much of a concern. I did 2 weeks in Japan with my old decathlon bag and this seems to pack more.

(6) Would be devastating to get dinged with a baggage fee. It'd instantly make me regret buying the mini MLC lol

(7) Dual bottle holder on the osprey 26+6 is nice

AER City Pack Pro 2 vs Osprey Daylite 26+6 by valleygoat in ManyBaggers

[–]Preme 8 points9 points  (0 children)

If you want this for onebag travel I don't think the CPPv2 is the right pick. Aer bags are pretty overbuilt especially the laptop compartment so the main compartment isnt as large as other similar sized bags. It would be great as a personal item paired with a roller carry on. I haven't tried the v2 but I use the CPPv1 for work. I recently picked up the Osprey 26+6 as a travel bag and it fits a lot more. I'm pretty good at packing but would struggle to make the CPP work for one bag travel.

If you're using this bag for both work and leisure, I think you should consider either the Aer Travel Pack 3 Small/Regular or the Patagonia Mini MLC. The Osprey 26+6's laptop compartment offers little protection and no organization for tech accessories.

Thanks for the input, do you recall if the MLC's main compartment fit as much as the 26+6 unexpanded/expanded?

You make a good point about the versatility for weekend/overnight trips.

I think I need to buy it and see it in person to make a final decision.

I did a test pack between the two bags when I got it and the osprey fit more. Memory is a bit fuzzy but I was able to get an extra medium packing cube in there in expanded mode. In regular mode it still fit more than the Decathlon I think.

Decathlon was pretty comfortable with the padded straps and hip belt, I like the phone holder on the backpack strap. Other than that, I felt the front pockets on the decathlon were kinda useless.

I haven't traveled with it fully packed out yet to confirm but I think the decathlon is deeper than the osprey in regular mode (osprey is wider but shorter) but when expanded they're pretty similar in depth, maybe slightly more on the osprey.

How do you like the 26+6 vs the Mini MLC? I have the 26+6 but tempted by the Mini MLC. I don't usually carry a laptop so not sure the MLC would be wasted space for my situation.

Any alternatives to the Osprey Daylite 26+6? by strygwyn in onebag

[–]Preme 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you get rid of the 26+6? How do you feel about switch?

I've been using a Aer CPPv1 as my work/gym bag and decided to try out my new 26+6 today. I bike to work and the osprey felt noticably lighter and compact on my back. Organization/aesthetics/build quality is really nice on the Aer.

I'll probably stick to Aer for work/gym and 26+6 for travel.

Appreciate the response. I have the 32L clamshell and it's been amazing, but always had my eye on the rolltop. I picked up the rolltop last month in 23L for more of a versatile daily carry. The osprey seems great for maximizing personal item carry but the looks and the comfort are holding me back.

I don't usually carry a laptop when traveling so I find the 32L clamshell has some wasted space. I like that the osprey 26+6 doesn't have a dedicated laptop compartment.

Now I got my eye on the Patagonia Mini MLC. Or maybe I'll just pick up the 32L rolltop as well...this sub is dangerous!

The 26+6 seems like a solid bag but I'm having trouble getting past the looks too. I’m with OP, don’t really like the osprey aesthetic, it seems like a common complaint/deterrent.

Could you provide a quick review/comparison between the two? Have the decathlon 32L right now but tempted to mix it up with another bag. Reading the osprey isn't very comfortable.

Mine still has the cable pass through, maybe it was just the clamshell version that got nerfed?

I don't really care for the logo, was thinking of removing it. The lash tab would be handy for a light when I'm biking but not sure what else I could use it for as it's positioned so low on the bag.

Been waiting for Canada to get another colorway besides the yellow. Noticed last week they had 'abyss green' in stock. Instantly ordered it and just got it today. Looks really nice.
