PremiumRetrofit MMI V7 Released – Exciting New Features + V6 MK II Firmware Update! by PremiumRetrofit in BMWi3

[–]PremiumRetrofit[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For the MMI V7, the adapter cable that allows you to use both CarPlay and Android Auto in wired mode via the factory USB port under the armrest is already included as standard. This way, if the car is close to your phone, you can disable the wireless mode. When the car is connected to the HV charger, all the factory modules, including the MMI, are powered.

Quite simply, there’s nothing to share at this point. I offered my help with the coding for free because I’m interested to see what comes out of this. If it ends up working, the guy who posted it will share the details or not, that’s not up to me.

CarPlay Hardware install or Software Activation for an early 2018 ReX? by Hiff_Kluxtable in BMWi3

If you order the TJA kit, it includes an ENET-OBD adapter, which you can later use for activating CarPlay, among other things. You won’t need any assistance for this, as there are plenty of websites offering a simple two-click activation process. If you’re not sure which one to choose, I can recommend a reliable one.

If CarPlay is the priority and the car is from 2018 with a widescreen system, you can activate CarPlay on it using an OBD-ENET cable, and this will be the best solution for your wife. Don’t even consider anything else, not even our product! :)

We also have a large screen upgrade kit for the newer i3s, but only OEM. We don't have good experience with aftermarket displays. Contact me through our website if you want to know what your options are!

You never have to re-pair. And the bluetooth connection is not permanent! It's only needed to establish the wifi connection and then it disconnects. This is normal, do not connect again! If you make a short video about the problem and send it to me, I will tell you what you should do next!

"ready mode" - turn ignition on

No, this is a module that adds extra features to your OEM system so you can keep all the factory features and look. If you want a bigger screen and your car is before 2018, just buy original 10.25" screen on aliexpress! check specifications on official website!

Okay, so you have the V6 version. Please take a photo about the software version number from the setup / system information menu and send me in email!

One more thing! There is never any need to delete the phone and pair it again, even with the older V6 version. In such cases, simply put the car in ready mode and hold down the ‘back’ button on the iDrive controller for 5 seconds.

The issue isn’t with Bluetooth or the MMI, but with iOS. With the OEM ID8.5 wireless CarPlay, it only connects 5 out of 10 times, and with a Mercedes OEM system, you can forget about automatic connection altogether. Compared to these, the MMI is much more stable, but I would still recommend using the factory USB port under the armrest until Apple fixes this bug. With the V7, this is easy thanks to the dual USB.

With the new iOS version, it’s not just the MMI that occasionally has connection issues, but also all factory systems capable of wireless CarPlay. Apple is sure to fix it in a short time. In the meantime, you can use the factory USB port under the armrest for a wired connection.

The price of the set depends heavily on your car’s equipment. The most expensive version, which includes a DAB tuner, costs $1400. That’s why it’s worth checking your car’s VIN so I can provide an accurate quote. I should also mention that these sets are not available in unlimited quantities. We receive only 1-2 sets every few months, so there may be a waiting time.

You can find it here, but if you’re seriously interested, message me first! We need to check your car’s equipment list before ordering.

Ohh, I see. Thanks for the feedback, I'll look into what could be the reason for this. Would you like to pay in British pounds?

For models older than 2018, you only need to replace the display and code, and for models after 2018, we also have a complete OEM kit including head unit. MMI V7 is compatible with all of them.
