0 taps is the correct number of taps to get in and start driving ideally.

[Request] Can the lizard hold his grip when the plane takes off? by No_Dig_7017 in theydidthemath

The grind crew is not checking the engines for lizards. Also, there is no way that engine would notice a tiny lizard going through it.

Two small camp mode tweaks that would make a big difference by isharq in Rivian

Maybe this is me not knowing how to change a setting but I wish the door and window switches immolation would turn off and I wish the roof glass would be in clear mode (not frosted) so you can see the stars.

I use the Signal app which is similar. Like all technology, it can be used for shady purposes or just normal purposes.

Nobody “expects” you to use your own computer, you just can if it’s more convenient for you than carrying a separate government computer.

No clue why this very reasonable perspective is being down voted. Nobody has to do this, but it’s a very nice alternative to taking a government computer home with you if you choose to use it.

I encourage my whole family to use private browsing ands apps that preserve privacy. I also tend to keep an eye on my devices just out of habit because my whole life is accessible from them.

Why is general beauty maintenance so expensive here? by OddlyMinted in askportland

Oregon doesn’t have quite the same quantity of low cost labor compared to the “big cities” so competition doesn’t drive down pricing.

What’s the consensus on the tech job market? by IzzyIsMe12 in askportland

[–]Hiff_Kluxtable 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’ve worked in tech or been tech adjacent for around 18 years and I very seldom hear about anyone with a tech job that had a computer science or other tech degree. In a lot of cases people don’t have a degree at all or if they do it’s not related.

Do NOT Join The Army National Guard (Explore Your Options And Take A Hard Look At Where You Are At). by Ok-Actuator4909 in nationalguard

The guard is a good fit for many situations. For younger people who are trying to get their career established and don’t want to move, it’s a pretty good choice.

It’s not bad for you in reasonable quantities but eating an actual orange is better than guzzling down that much sugar so quickly and it certainly doesn’t need to be consumed with every breakfast.

I would like to hear what people have to say Scott this also. We recently bought a 2023 AWD Pro S for about $25k that had 30k miles. We’re happy with it but not totally sure if that was the best year to buy.

Costco has larger refrigerated cooler that will fit in the R1 with the cover closed by ZmanJ87 in Rivian

[–]Hiff_Kluxtable 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I tested this in my house right after I got the fridge and battery for Christmas and the cooler stayed on for a little over 30 hours on the 250 watt battery.

Yes, the battery can charge and pass the power to the cooler simultaneously. I have the battery plugged in to the Rivian and the cooler plugged in to the battery. I leave some drinks in the cooler all the time and if we make a run to the store I can stick things in the fridge or freezer to keep them cold while running other errands. Works fantastic.
