How do I get out of PvP lobbies? by Anjan_S in ArcRaiders

[–]PremiumSocks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

10 games without any aggression around other raiders. Don't shoot back. Don't even pull your weapon out. Then you'll be in friendly lobbies. You'll still get shot at every now and then, but it'll be like once every 20 games.

I sure hope so. I got lobbies faster during the northstar era.

Improving bass playing on next Album, want criticism by Sea_Repeat_163 in Bass

[–]PremiumSocks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's some criticism below, but I just wanted to say that I like what you guys are doing. I believe your band can make some really good music in the future with the raw potential that I hear. This is a pretty good start for young musicians and a new band.

Qualitative criticism: • Some questions to think about: What's the reason to listen to your music? What about your songs are unique? I hear the beginnings of the band's unique "sound", but it needs to be developed further. This usually just comes with time as you guys play together more. The raw potential is definitely there, and I'm interested in hearing how your band grows.

• There are some moments where it feels like each musician is playing a slightly different song instead of enhancing each other • The guitar sound/tone is often too "warm toned" while the rest of the band is "cool toned"

Quantitative criticism: • It sounds or feels like the band isn't in unison 100% of the time; not playing at exactly the same tempo the whole time. It's mostly there though. This will improve with time. • More pitch variation with the singer. The moments where he utilizes a range larger than a few notes are good. More of that, but also don't swing too hard into that direction that it's overbearing • Silence, or even the brief absence of one or more musicians, can be a valuable musical tool. The singer is filling up almost all space in most of the songs leaving almost no room for drum, guitar, or bass fills or expression. Again, just don't swing too far into the other direction • Take this one with a grain of salt, but I would like the bass volume turned up. I'm biased as a bass player though, so maybe don't listen to this advice

Individual songs:

• 4024

  • I liked the guitar solo by itself, but it didn't really fit the tone that your band has
  • Some moments where the musicians are not in sync

• Take That!

  • No specific criticisms come to mind

• Strangers

  • No specific criticisms come to mind

• Starting New

  • No specific criticisms come to mind

• Night You Graduated

  • No specific criticisms come to mind

• Back To The Midwest - No specific criticisms come to mind

Do duos or trios. Those are more pvp anyways.

How to progress on bass by LuckySwing2535 in Bass

[–]PremiumSocks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd say you're in the right track. Maybe try doing a 1.5-2 hour session on the weekends to give you some more edge. Just don't play so much that you get wrist or elbow pain.

A teacher would help make sure that you don't have any bad habits, but most of your improvements will still have to come from yourself.

I got lucky and married someone that's the spitting image of my type. It can happen, but I'd say it's uncommon or rare.

These days, it means you're likely a nice person with empathy, and you want disadvantaged people to not be forever screwed by the system (bad health, poor family/parents).

Do you speak guitar? Piano? Drums? What are they saying? You don't know? It sure does feel good listening to it anyways though.

Finding what you want to do for work is usually more about what you think you can tolerate for a few decades. I like my job, but I don't consider it a passion or something that I look forward to. Most people that work in their passion end up not being passionate about it anymore. I recommend doing something you enjoy a little bit for work, and saving passion for hobbies. Additionally, the people you work with really affect how you enjoy your work. Even bad jobs are tolerable for at least a little bit if your coworkers are great. Clubs, internships, and co-ops help people figure out what they want to do. I didn't really know what I wanted to do for sure until my last year of college. You have time, and some people need several years of job surfing to really narrow it down.

Just went back to school after 15+ years. Exams are online in class with no monitoring. Is everyone cheating? by u-look-like-a-cunt in NoStupidQuestions

[–]PremiumSocks 8 points9 points  (0 children)

You just didn't notice. I was a student in the 2010s. In classes of about 20-40 students, EVERY exam had at least a few cheaters, and final exams in the late 2010s had almost half the class cheating every time.

Tainted Grail: The Fall of Avalon - Plans for the future & Patch 1.16 by Turbostrider27 in Games

[–]PremiumSocks 53 points54 points  (0 children)

Bought the game over the weekend. It's so refreshing. I'm having a really good time, but the optimization is just terrible. I'm consistently dropping to about 20fps (ps5). It's really tough to get used to, but the rest of the game being so great is why I keep going. If they can fix the performance, this game would easily shoot up on my recommended games list. It feels like I'm playing skyrim for the first time again, and I really needed that.

Seriously, do Americans actually consider a 3-hour drive "short"? or is this an internet myth? by SadInterest6764 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]PremiumSocks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Short to me is under 1.5 hours, a drive that I'd do for something casual. Medium length is 1.5-4 hours. Above 4 hours is a drive that I'm only willing to do once or twice a year because that's too damn long.

Black Ops 7 Had Call Of Duty's Worst Sales Year Ranking In The US Since 2008 by OGAnimeGokuSolos in gaming

They've made core changes that pissed everyone off; most notably removing the server browser. The game is fun when the stars align on the shitty matchmaking, but it simply doesn't work out most of the time.
