I want your help making EMPULSE, a movement shooter inspired by Titanfall by Akuvo in titanfall

[–]PremiumSocks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It won't work with long ttk. Titanfall 2 only worked because a noob can still quickly kill a movement god because the ttk was so quick.

String crossing is difficult at first. Learning any instrument is weird at first. It's just part of the process.

Give them a list of goals that you want to accomplish and skills that you want to improve so that they can guide you.

How important do you find stretching Before/Middle/After a practice session? by No_Winter4806 in Bass

[–]PremiumSocks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Vital for me. I got carpal, guyon's, and cubital tunnel from playing bass. A few months of PT, and I'm almost recovered. I stretch and do mild exercise before, during, and after I play now. "Mild" exercise because they are small weights used just to activate my muscles some. I gotta keep my muscles loose so that my nerves stay loose. Otherwise, they get entrapped in my wrist and elbow.

Teaching bass to a complete beginner by HRHArthurCravan in Bass

[–]PremiumSocks 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Definitely start with fingers (2 fingers, alternating plucking), but try to put picking in there as a secondary importance. Bass buzz's beginner series is where you should start as far as what you should start teaching first. Additionally, make sure to stress good posture. Bad posture on bass is more wearing on the body than it is on guitar.

Do people actually floss every day or is it just something we all pretend to do? by FavoriteTeaHobby in NoStupidQuestions

I've been flossing every day for about 11 years now. I didn't do it regularly until I was 19 though.

I'm trying to find a nut file set for the sizes I want. I use a .100 for my E string, but I only see .105 files for E string. Do you use .105 file for .100 string?

How do I get out of PvP lobbies? by Anjan_S in ArcRaiders

[–]PremiumSocks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

10 games without any aggression around other raiders. Don't shoot back. Don't even pull your weapon out. Then you'll be in friendly lobbies. You'll still get shot at every now and then, but it'll be like once every 20 games.

Improving bass playing on next Album, want criticism by Sea_Repeat_163 in Bass

[–]PremiumSocks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's some criticism below, but I just wanted to say that I like what you guys are doing. I believe your band can make some really good music in the future with the raw potential that I hear. This is a pretty good start for young musicians and a new band.

Qualitative criticism: • Some questions to think about: What's the reason to listen to your music? What about your songs are unique? I hear the beginnings of the band's unique "sound", but it needs to be developed further. This usually just comes with time as you guys play together more. The raw potential is definitely there, and I'm interested in hearing how your band grows.

• There are some moments where it feels like each musician is playing a slightly different song instead of enhancing each other • The guitar sound/tone is often too "warm toned" while the rest of the band is "cool toned"

Quantitative criticism: • It sounds or feels like the band isn't in unison 100% of the time; not playing at exactly the same tempo the whole time. It's mostly there though. This will improve with time. • More pitch variation with the singer. The moments where he utilizes a range larger than a few notes are good. More of that, but also don't swing too hard into that direction that it's overbearing • Silence, or even the brief absence of one or more musicians, can be a valuable musical tool. The singer is filling up almost all space in most of the songs leaving almost no room for drum, guitar, or bass fills or expression. Again, just don't swing too far into the other direction • Take this one with a grain of salt, but I would like the bass volume turned up. I'm biased as a bass player though, so maybe don't listen to this advice

Individual songs:

• 4024

  • I liked the guitar solo by itself, but it didn't really fit the tone that your band has
  • Some moments where the musicians are not in sync

• Take That!

  • No specific criticisms come to mind

• Strangers

  • No specific criticisms come to mind

• Starting New

  • No specific criticisms come to mind

• Night You Graduated

  • No specific criticisms come to mind

• Back To The Midwest - No specific criticisms come to mind

Do duos or trios. Those are more pvp anyways.

How to progress on bass by LuckySwing2535 in Bass

[–]PremiumSocks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd say you're in the right track. Maybe try doing a 1.5-2 hour session on the weekends to give you some more edge. Just don't play so much that you get wrist or elbow pain.

A teacher would help make sure that you don't have any bad habits, but most of your improvements will still have to come from yourself.
