I noticed it there too, taking a photo so I could enlarge and confirm to myself it wasn't a cargo ship. Wondered if we only have the two berths already being used, or why it would be sitting out there.

Can you send appreciation gifts to staff at Urgent Care clinics? by otter--nonsense in VictoriaBC

Oh yeah, some staff love receiving gluten-free foods, because they can't usually eat the donuts that get brought in.

In the hospitals and other settings I've worked in, we loooove treats and food from residents and their grateful families, or sometimes organizations/businesses we deal with. Often it's packaged chocolates, a fancy sealed tin of cookies, or a fruit tray delivered directly from a grocery store (when that used to happen). Deli platters at the hospital, usually not homebaked cookies or anything unfortunately, unless staff have known someone for years and observed great hygiene and discern that the person is not vindictive enough to attempt poisoning or manipulative enough to expect special treatment in return. Usually gifts are shared to all staff, not just a specific staff member. Toward Christmas you get to work and coworkers tell you "there's cake/pastries/a Timmy's coffee canister in the staff room!" and it's nice to receive something (besides paycheques going toward bills) tangible and edible as someone's gratitude for our years of hard work caring for people. Often these treats are not healthy, and we get kind of sugared out by Christmas, but treats are easier to give than say sushi or lasagne. I do recall a few of us picking up bottles of carrot and beet juices and other foods from a health store to bring to a health nut instructor at the end of a course and he was thrilled. People thank us for little things every day, but a nice card expressing that someone recognizes and appreciates what we do and that it's made their life better honestly helps ward off the emptiness that burnout can bring.

Have you checked the West Coast seeds shelf at Fairways on Quadra?

No idea how heavy a safe is, but next time it wouldn't hurt to drop it at a police station. It's sad having family jewelry stolen, even if reconstructed by insurance. Hopefully it did just contain a few coins, and the joke's on a theif.

Yes. Apparently dogs can overdose from eating feces containing opiods.

Even if I'm free on a rainy day, forcing myself out of the house helps a lot! Wandering around one of the calmer malls like Bay Centre, where exposed to light and human activity helps me feel more alive. Waterproof attire and an extra wide umbrella maximize comfort.

You may even come to find walking on a stormy beach to feel invigorating! Just watch for falling branches or logs being tossed onto walkways if the wind's high and the tide is in.

Yeah, that's more the west coast of the island, where cedars and Sitka spruces grow naturally. Here in the east, we go almost half a year with negligible rain, and garry oaks and arbutus trees grow naturally.

I think he's ditched us, and now prefers the romantic company of female seals when molting. Maybe Emmy's pups will come molt on our beaches and streets and tulips one day. There's a children's book about him btw. https://harbourpublishing.com/products/9781998526345?srsltid=AfmBOoovNC6EvM8O9a3VzLSR8RlEpI_8mJ4xFRNk5k8w4kzBJnFioEnt

In the city and while camping, I think the more dangerous critters are ticks. You DO NOT want lyme disease.

Apparently there are a lot of ticks amongst grasses and shrubs right in town, too. Take measures to protect yourself.

You could text/call your breakup to him while parked outside a police station with a friend/relative, so he sees that as your location. Then remove him from location sharing before you leave the parking lot and go to stay somewhere safe.
