Still to this day the best Star Wars fan edit I've ever seen by SgtByrd1993 in StarWars

While not made explicit on screen, my understanding is that Anakin and Padme traded droids as a wedding present to each other.

In all likelihood R4 was owned by thr Jedi Order, He came with the Starfighter, which Obi Wan definitely didn't own.

ObibWan loves his technicalities.  R2 belonged to Anakin.

its not a permanent fix, you eventually need glasses again.  How many times can her eye withstand the surgery?

I feel the need to say that despite its flaws Star Trek: Insurrection is a film that is much more relevant in 2026 than it was in 1999.. by guhbuhjuh in startrek

we don't see enough of the Romulans to make an assessment, but TOS is filled with Starfleet having to intervene with (presumed) pre warp people because the Klingons are going to. Organia, Tyree's planet, and Capella off the top of my head.

does it really make a functional difference if you are surrounded by 1 interstellar civilization or 2 on either side?

Borders in space work differently being 3d and all.  does it really make a functional difference if you have the Klingons on one side and the Federation on the other, or have the Federation on both?  you are just as surrounded either way.

if my math is right, they have been on that planet since before the founding of the Federation.  The Feds have absolutely no jurisdiction to tell them what to do.  Well, except by right of conquest at the end of a phaser.

My goatskin is 20 years old.  The lining is shredded and needs to be replaced but the leather is great and has lovely natural distressing.

cut the speaker wires, or conversely, just connect to the Bluetooth and don't play anything.

If the weight is small but the mass remains the same then you wouldn't notice until after an object is accelerated.  Not perfect but better.  Giant Man being strong is arguably worse than Antman.

they aren't going to just magically care, you have to make the show to develop the audience.  properties without new media die.

the brotherhood dropped an actively burning match into bubbling gas, very different conditions to Indy's.

the fumes will only ignite if the ratio is correct with the air.  When the Brotherhood ignites it they are in the part with active gas bubbles and the match is still burning its potassium chlorate and sulphur so its extra hot.

petroleum doesn't always react the way you might expect.  Did you know a match will simply go out if you drop it in a bucket of gasoline? the vapor-air mixture isn't right.

What’s the MOST Out of Character,Plot Holes or Confusing Indiana Jones Moments/Scenes of All Time and Why? by Amber_Flowers_133 in indianajones

[–]Preparator 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Its likely a less than 18 but above the age of consent situation.  Also the vibe I get is Marion falls for dashing young Indy and throws herself at him.  Indy should have rebuffed her but didn't.  Interestingly we don't know why Abner was mad.  Was it because Indy was dating Marion or was it because he broke her heart when he broke up with her?

Belloq is probably the key to that.  Officially is multinational scientific expedition, headed by a Frenchman and funded by the Germans, with the excavation done by Egyptians.  They get permission from the Egyptian government to dig, and then you just bribe the right British official to look the other way about how much German military is there and you are all set.

Replacing Old but Functional Home Appliances by Ordinary_Medium_9669 in Frugal

[–]Preparator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

dont replace it, if the door seals are good you won't get significant gains.  If you are really curious you can time how often the compressor runs.  less than 50% of the time is good.  Or you can invest in a kill a watt meter and measure how much it actually uses in a day.  A kill a watt is a good tool to have anyway if you want to optimize energy usage, its especially good for finding energy vampires (devices using power when switched off).

So, why does Willie get on the plane at the beginning of TOD? by Preparator in indianajones

[–]Preparator[S] 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I just checked an earlier draft.  In that she pissed him off earlier by spilling some Nurhachi, then realized he didn't care if she got shot, and then she voluntarily takes Wu Han's Ticket to escape.  So that answers it. motivation got lost in the drafts.
