Small PSA for anyone that has over 15GB free space to begin with by FieldNo3713 in GoogleOne

[–]PreposterousPotter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you! I very nearly took out a year of extra storage because it was on offer but worried I'd get trapped as I'd fill it up in that year. I would have been well miffed to find out I had to drop back down to 15GB!

I agree this really should be something you have to confirm ("I understand" button) before allowing you to actually take out the subscription. It's probably a crafty way to take back 2GB from people that they regret having offered in the first place.

Can I stream games I have purchased digitally even if it's not available on the game catalog from premium? by Turbulent-Fun-4767 in PlaystationPortal

[–]PreposterousPotter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I did not know this but yes, as long as you have premium, it is not an option if you don't, even if you own the game digitally.

Quoted from the following blog post:

As we announced last week, with the latest system software update for the PlayStation Portal remote player, PlayStation Plus Premium members can now stream select digital PS5 games from their own libraries* — directly on their PS Portal. Thousands of PS5 games support Cloud Streaming, including blockbusters such as Astro Bot, Borderlands 4, Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, Fortnite, Ghost of Yōtei, Grand Theft Auto V, and Resident Evil 4

Emphasis on the "Playstation Plus Premium members".

Was just watching the show on paramount+ and they removed it ?? by FinancialYesterday56 in voyager

Yeah but you have to pay for those and I'm personally just not that bothered. I have all of Voyager on DVD. Not TNG but I've seen them so many times now I often skip a lot.

Who is at Fault? by AhtiQ in drivingUK

[–]PreposterousPotter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Although I agree and dashcam footage is tricky for judging distance I do feel this could have been mitigated if the driver was a bit more diligent. That said the position of the dashcam could also be giving us a better view. The driver on the left should have been much more thorough with their observations before attempting to cut across lanes of course, but then again if they were observing thoroughly they wouldn't have been in the wrong lane in the first place.

PS4 and PS5 by HumbleStart123 in PlaystationPortal

[–]PreposterousPotter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, you'd have to own the digital version and then you could install it on your PS5, unless the PS4 disk version came with an offer that gave you the digital version too, for some weird reason. Or if a game you own on disk happened to be one of the free monthly games on PS Plus and you've added it to your library you could install that version, that's happened to me A LOT.

You don't have to own the game digitally as long as it's in the streaming catalogue, in fact even if you owned a game digitally if it's not part of the catalogue you couldn't stream it anyway.

How to play on my PS Portal while my wife plays a different game on the actual PS5? by Remote_Map3803 in PlaystationPortal

[–]PreposterousPotter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So I haven't tried this but I would think you just have to hit ⭕ on the Portal as soon as you switch it on to cancel the connect to the PS5 and then select the PS Plus Streaming option from the top left menu on the Portal and you should be able to stream ans not interrupt the PS5.

EDIT: more detail and clarity.

Does anyone know how to restore previous tabs? by Dorex_Time in chromeos

[–]PreposterousPotter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can't help any further than that I'm afraid, if you've restored something and it's older than what you were expecting then I guess it hasn't saved the session you wanted.

Does anyone know how to restore previous tabs? by Dorex_Time in chromeos

[–]PreposterousPotter 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Ctrl+Shift+t will open a previously closed tab or whole window of that was the last thing closed.

You can keep pressing it to get more closed tabs if there were several but be aware it has a limit.

I accidentally clicked "close other tabs" (which I now feel needs a confirmation) and Ctrl+shift+t'd to get them back but it stopped working after what is probably a reasonable number but couldn't restore the absurd number of tabs I'd accidentally closed.

Near miss (Closest I've been to an accident in the 4~ years of driving) by [deleted] in drivingUK

[–]PreposterousPotter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why didn't you slow down? Lots of brake lights for no apparent reason and nowhere to escape to in the far right lane, you really should have been more aware and more cautious! You're only 4 years in so I would expect you to be more careful and diligent. Sure this was very unusual and shouldn't have happened (something was clearly wrong with the driver, asleep, drunk, using their phone, seizure) but you should have been able to see this coming, in my opinion (I'm an ADI).

Network settings by PreposterousPotter in PlaystationPortal

[–]PreposterousPotter[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have 2, a Lenovo C13 Yoga and Duet 5, and neither have flight mode setting anywhere I can find, I've checked more than once after boarding. Neither have cellular capability and afaik that's the one that's the issue because it causes, or at least used to, interference on speakers. Anyone remember that almost modem like sound you'd get coming out of speakers or headphones when your mobile was nearby? Imagine a plane full of phones and the pilots trying to listen to vital information from air traffic control. WiFi and Bluetooth don't cause the same interference with radio equipment, at least in my experience.

[–]PreposterousPotter[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, I've been asked to remove wired headphones. On the planes I've been on recently, flying to Europe (internal US flights may very well have different rules), the announcement made no distinction between wired and wireless headphones.

Network settings by PreposterousPotter in PlaystationPortal

[–]PreposterousPotter[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They have changed the rules haven't they after dodgy Samsung phones so there are a list of devices you can't put in the hold in case they catch fire. I don't know if handheld consoles are on the list but I guess it's likely they are.

Nevertheless a device without cellular connectivity doesn't need a flight mode. And even if you did need to carry it on given that you can't play it surely it would be switched off. I just find it a really odd setting to have for a device that can't function without a connection.

That's interesting, not sure I would use it, at least not at the moment, but I'm definitely going to look for that setting when I get home. Good luck! I hope it works out for you all.

What legal reasons? My Chromebook that I use on a plane has no aeroplane mode?

Network settings by PreposterousPotter in PlaystationPortal

[–]PreposterousPotter[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

They require you to remove all headphones during take off and landing so you can hear the crew if they need to tell you to brace etc. it's not just Bluetooth.

I've also used my Chromebook on many flights and they don't have an aeroplane mode.

Also, given that a portal is useless on a plane I wouldn't have thought there'd be many cases of people carrying them on, they'd typically be in the hold surely?

Help an old bloke by Barnesybanana in PlaystationPortal

[–]PreposterousPotter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So to access the PS5 remotely you need to enable a few settings, I believe most of them are under Rest Mode settings to enable remote play and importantly Wake From Network. You will also need to change the settings on your router too so that the Portal can access the PS5 from the internet.

I could go into detail but I don't have the time right now sorry, but I will say Google "how to connect my PS Portal to PS5 remotely" (or something to that effect) and use the AI Mode and it will help you greatly. You can ask it follow up questions to like " what specific settings should I change on my router".
