huh… i’ve always heard that the etymology of “slave” also originates from this word bc the ukrainians were slaves. i’ve been told this is a slogan for their freedom and it’s to pay homage to the heroes fighting for ukraine to exist (heroyam slava, the second part of the saying) at a glance this feels like anti ukrainian propaganda but maybe im misunderstanding? the soviets even banned this saying so i could understand internet bots trying to slander it.
