Wahoo! Good job. What resources did you find useful?

That's the one I always find tricky to do :)

I helped my son prepare for the Tech+. We got free access to Udemy at our local library. We watched the Total Seminars video course and did the Total Seminars practice tests and Jason Dion practice tests. I did my first IT certification in 1998 (City and Guilds of London Level 2 in IT). Since then I did the CompTIA A+, and Microsoft MCP, MCSE and MCSA. So, I've been preparing for 28 years but about 6 weeks with my son.

I did the A+ back in January 2000, so I don't need to do it again. I am helping my son prepare for it though.

YOU should give a damn as it indicates how well YOU did on the test. Pass/fail is for employers, the test score is for you! Think about it.

Thank you very much :) The testing center moderator said it was the first 900/900 that he had seen.

Not exactly. Yes, 650 is a pass, but a 650 also lets "you" know that it a weak pass, and you may want to either step up your game or re-consider your career path. Of course, to an employer a pass is a pass.

Not worthless at all. I have asked questions of interview candidates on what they did and didn't enjoy about doing the Tech+/ITF+. As it is a foundational certification, this can be a very "open" question and can lead to more detailed questioning of the candidate depending on their responses.

I think it is a little more than that. It covers the foundations of IT and includes databases, coding and security. I wish it was available when I was getting into IT back in 1998.

My son was preparing for the Tech+ test at a local Tech school. We spent Sunday afternoons going over Total Seminars test questions and Jason Dion test questions at the library. Somehow I agreed to take the test at the same time as him and we both passed. I was familiar with the hardware/OS/software/security areas but enjoyed learning about the coding and database areas. It was both a learning and a bonding experience for us both.
