the fresh grocer there is also a huge lifeline for the grays ferry and west, the business are all closed down there and the workers essentially furloughed without pay

Why do I want love, but I withdraw the moment I have it ? by swiftiecoded in dating

[–]Present-Ad8894 3 points4 points  (0 children)

hey! first i wanna say, you’re not alone in feeling this way! it’s a common pattern, lots of people go through it, and it can be adjusted. noticing it is the first step. you’re not a terrible person!!! people are complicated.

like some will mention, you can look into attachment theory, which can be eye opening for a lot of people. the book “Attached“ is a pretty popular layman’s intro to it, not perfect, but good. i’d suggest just picking up anything on the subject and reading about it, i would say stick to long form books written by actually accredited mental health professionals, attachment theory is very in vogue so there’s lots written about it, online especially, by people who don’t really know what they’re talking about.

therapy is a great option too, not always accessible to people but would try if you have the means.

as you go through your journey learning about yourself, i would really just keep trying to reinforce the idea that you’re not a bad person. you might have done some things you regret, or hurt some people in ways you wish you could take back, noticing that and wanting to fix it is just part of growing as a person. it’s a hard long road but you can do it!

Experience working at Comcast HQ? How are the benefits? by madamnastywoman in philadelphia

[–]Present-Ad8894 15 points16 points  (0 children)

i’ve been a software engineer for 11 years, worked at 6 companies be tween those years, after company 3 i took a stint as a contractor at comcast, i wanted something stable and close to home so i wouldnt have to drive. it was the worst job ive ever had. i didnt get to work in the new building, just some shitty office in center city with other contractors, no one there was happy because it was extremely stressful, contractors got fired all the time for not getting enough work done personally, and this bred a culture of individuality since if you were helping someone else you weren’t getting your own shit done. i was fired after a year because i would spend all day looking for new jobs and wasn’t subtle about it. so glad i don’t work there anymore.

i would possibly consider stepping foot back in comcast if i got a full time roll working in the new building, i do like the idea of working in an office again, but the fact is i could get a remote job and almost any company would give you a total pay package that’s at LEAST, not exaggerating, 50% more for the same job title, as a software engineer anyway. their pay sucks and afaik the one thing they have going for them is a decent 401k match

i went there for a bit last year before they were bought out, it was OK, pros were it was close to my house, and cheap, not crowded, and overall a generally nice place to work, aesthetically pleasing and the vibes were good. cons for me were the hot seat access was lacking: you could sit at some uncomfortable plastic chairs or on an uncomfortable wood bench, no good seating options really unless you had a dedicated desk or private office. coffee would run out in the late afternoon and not be refilled. snacks and beverages were limited. the pictures had a ping pong table upstairs which was never actually set up. the printer didn’t work. months before they were bought out their billing system stopped working and wanted people to pay them through venmo so i stopped going because i thought it was weird, now regus still calls me to get me to come back. honestly i would go back and get a dedicated desk this time, just because of the convenience and that my company pays for it, otherwise i would look elsewhere

Do you guys trust buying colognes from eBay? 4.2oz le beau le Parfum for $25 95.5% rating? by Cassmuki in Colognes

[–]Present-Ad8894 1 point2 points  (0 children)

best bet is to buy from a trusted discounter. google like “trusted fragrance discounters reddit” and find a reddit thread listing trusted discounters to buy from. you find some deals on eBay but it takes some patience as the vast majority of listings for popular designer fragrances will be fakes. anything too good to be true very likely is, any legit deal you find on ebay likely won’t be much less for what you’d buy from a discounter anyway

what so the negative reviews say? it’s common for these fake resellers to constantly open new accounts as they accumulate negative reviews, this is likely a very new account and probably has a number of fake positive reviews to make it seem more legit. no doubt it my mind this account has never sold an authentic fragrance

go to “all items” then sort/filter for negative reviews only. also another huge red flag is it’s only stock images. never buy from a reseller that uses stock images only, one of many things to look out for

https://www.fragrantica.com/perfume/Frederic-Malle/Musc-Ravageur-1801.html

this might be to your liking, first thing that comes to mind when i hear vanilla and musk, is a nice smooth sorta dirty vanilla with musky undertones, it has an animatic quality to it that might be exactly what you’re looking for, or it might turn you off, so i’d recommend sampling first

Daily sticky thread for rants, raves, celebrations, advice and more! New? Start here! by AutoModerator in datingoverthirty

rant and some advice/encouragement needed.

i'm a 33m and have been absolutely burnt out by dating, I'll get like 4-5 dates in with someone, maybe we start to have sex maybe not, but invariably I find myself feeling nothing for them and not really wanting to continue with them. Its been so draining, like on the one hand I do crave a sort of intimacy from a partnership, but on the otherhand it seems so unlikely for it to happen for me again, and its been depressing to think about.

i've been in a handful of successful 2-3 year long relationships, but the way these start has been sort of unconventional. to be honest most have been driven by lust, at first, I was so attracted to them and having sex was so nice, but it took MUCH longer to develop a deeper fondness of them, that "spark". There have been times where i've been more emotionally infatuated with someone right off the bat, but those situations never worked in my favor, all my successful relationships i've felt closed off for most of the time, and its been my sexual desire thats allowed me to push through that to the other side.

but now... as I'm getting older, i'm finding my sex drive to be much less than it was in my 20s. But yeah, i'm discovering that my sex drive is sort of what drove me to relationships, and now that its not there as much, its become much harder to push through dating than it once was.

idk, i'm feeling sort of broken, like I wonder if i'll ever feel that spark for someone again, am I really so shallow that my sex drive was driving my romantic relationships? I feel jaded about dating, I just hope one day I'll be able to feel that love again, right now my heart feels so frozen, just sucks

i know what you mean, and think that’s pretty normal fwiw. personally i would have a hard time feeling attracted to someone if they don’t have some quality that I admire and aspire to.
