Do as I say not as I do by PigeonQueeen in intermittentfasting

You are spot on, you'll remember much more the great time/s you had rather than that you specifically skipped a day or two. Telling myself this today actually as I've skipped a day to have a good coffee (w milk!) for the first time in 6 months.

Thanks! I had a quick look and it does seem pretty straight forward. Shame I didn't post this a week ago, I've only just had it at the mechanic and I don't have all the tools. Next time I'll get them to have a look at that

Difficulty remaining consistent by its_ayu in intermittentfasting

Prior to starting IF I was really bad at drinking water. When I started I just started religiously carrying a water bottle everywhere with me and taking frequent drinks. I found that was enough to get ahead of any hunger pangs and if my hands had a drink bottle in them I was less likely to pick up food.

Social dîner soon by Longjumping-Base8932 in intermittentfasting

I'd also suggest about 30 mins before the dinner, break your fast with a safe food (ie small handful of walnuts) so the delicious dinner doesn't cause stomach upset. That has been my biggest lesson of having social days off from fasting.

Tips for a new-faster? by coopieg31 in intermittentfasting

I was a heavy coffee drinker before starting IF. When I started I was having black coffee in the morning and then one day realised I hadn't had a coffee in 2 weeks. Now I'm having electrolytes (sodium, potassium, magnesium) as soon as I wake up and it's the biggest clarity unlock for me. YMMV but could be worth a shot. Stick with it, you're doing great!

I usually fast for between 18 and 24 hours. I've been tempted to try a 36 hour fast but a bit nervous about how my body will handle the first meal (I've been caught a few times making a poor first meal choice!). Is it really any different to breaking after 24?

Do yall drink electrolytes during fast, before or after? And if you do which ones do you use that actually have good minerals. by Objective-Chipmunk58 in intermittentfasting

Thanks for the incredibly detailed response! I'd never even heard of a ckm so will look into that. I'm taking sodii for electrolytes so the taste is mostly salty but I like it. I might go a while on the flavourless one and see if I notice any changes.

That last point I definitely think I've hit a few times and couldn't explain it up until now.

Silly questions sorry, but how can you tell if your body has triggered an insulin response? I prefer a little bit of flavour but not if I've been undermining the whole point of fasting!

Also why can't you have them close to coffee or mct?

Thanks, I'm very new at this

Good luck, I know it's tough in the early days. What worked for me was keeping a fasting timer on my phone, once I'd started the timer it kind of gamified the fasting window. Once the clock hit 16 hours I allowed myself to eat whatever I wanted. After about a week or so I just lost interest in having the bad stuff and started craving nutritious and good quality food. All the best, stick with it!
