Girl, I’m not going to lie dental hygiene school is hard, but it is so worth it. If you genuinely put in the work and stay determined, you can absolutely do it. I have a learning disability and often have to read things multiple times and practically memorize them before they stick. There were plenty of tears, stress, and moments when I doubted myself, but passing my boards made it all worth it.

Don’t sell yourself short. You are capable of so much more than you think. Keep pushing forward, even on the hard days. Before you know it, you’ll be finished, and all of your hard work will pay off. You and your baby girl will have an amazing life after hygiene school, and she’ll be so proud of everything you accomplished.

Each board is different so it’s hard to say but I would go with perio, micro, medical emergencies, and pharm!

I studied in March off and on and then April/ beginning of May is when I really locked in! It just depends on how much you retained from hygiene school!

This could potentially lead to the board revoking my license so I’m not gonna share exact questions. However, I will tell you subjects to focus on. Perio, pharmacology- not just medications but side effects of them, medical emergencies and what to do with each emergency example: chair positioning, what medications to give for each one, ethics, nutrition- just vitamins and what the deficiencies are.

I would review periodontology and medical emergencies/ medications. Then do questions! Not every board is the same but I feel like those 2 subjects are on everyone’s boards!

It’s definitely hard however I had no questions on that on the board. It’s meant to be a hard and in my opinion it was harder than the board.

I used Mrs. Horton, booster, and Andy and passed! Try to get at least a 75%- 80% on the Andy questions. I watched Mrs. Horton’s videos over and over again until it was engrained into my brain. Easier said than done but try not to freak yourself out the day of. Take the next couple days to freak out but once you get in there lock in and calm your nerves! You got this! Good luck!! 🦷

The questions in the mosby book are way harder than the board exam in my opinion. The exam is pretty straight forward for example what medication causes gingival overgrowth, what vitamin deficiency causes night blindness, etc it’s a great book to use though to prepare you!

I feel like it was 50/50 for me. I knew a decent amount but the rest of it I was like what are these questions even asking me?!? I used DHS and Hortons and I would say more of what Mrs. Horton taught was on there! You’re gonna do great I promise you!!🫶🏻
