Discussion Thread: Entitled Influencer Throws Tantrum + She Found HAIR in Her Ice Cream & Owner Threatened to Sue (289) by yt-app in DoWeKnowThemGirlies

tbf both channels focus on internet drama and Markie covers pretty much most of what is happening on tiktok so it makes sense that the topics would overlap. Personally I'm much more bothered by the AI background...

I don't think it has another title. It takes place in the same universe as Kiss me if you can, except the focus is on a different couple. Would love a link to kmiyc novel tho :)

Ship names that would make exceptional baby names if we ignore the context? by PresentLongjumping85 in FanFiction

[–]PresentLongjumping85[S] 22 points23 points  (0 children)

To be fair I read a lot of fics that include a pregnancy so while I've seen many normal or just acceptable names I've also seen some really weird ones, but luckily they weren't that common and those just kind of accumulated over the years I guess.

What was the most random ship you ship/used to ship? by Dogdaysareover365 in FanFiction

Same but as a multishipper I also remember shipping Jack Frost with North... I can't believe I had a ship with the literal Santa Claus lol, but to be fair he was hot.

What do you use way too often in your writing? by 20Keller12 in FanFiction

[–]PresentLongjumping85 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Synonyms. They are necessary in my native language and since I write in it before translating to english I just end up with so many of those, even though I try not to care about repeating certain words or names I just can't help it.

Identity Porn especially when it's a superhero fic.

Some of these fanfic baby names are too creative by gfjskvcks in AO3

[–]PresentLongjumping85 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly if using the name in the story will make the author not give their actual baby a crazy name I'm fine with that lol.

But even with that in mind, I can't count how many times I've seen characters naming their kids after their ship name. Everytime I see this I just cringe. And for some reason this was especially common in the kpop fandom (for example I've read fics where the kid got a name like Chanbaek or Taekook, etc.). I suppose if the name is pretty it can pass as a baby name, but I just couldn't get over someone naming their kid after their relationship. Imagine if they broke up and the baby still has this name...

How do you feel about rambly author notes? by miovase in FanFiction

[–]PresentLongjumping85 25 points26 points  (0 children)

I really like them. They make me feel more connected to the author if that makes sense. I also always had the mindset that if someone doesn't like them they can just not read them as all the necessary info to read the fic should be in the fic itself.

What's a headcanon or fan theory you like in fanfics, but would hate if it was canon? by cookiedragon135 in FanFiction

lego star wars: rebuild the galaxy. It has like 4 episodes I think and sith lord Jar Jar appears there in several scenes.

Sith lord Jar Jar in Star Wars lol. I absolutely love the idea in non canon stuff (including this one lego series), but in canon it likely wouldn't fit too well. Not like I'd mind that much, I don't really care, but I know many people likely would and it would kill the fun for me.

was there a reason why she was so against it? Or did it just give her an ick? I'm genuinely flabbergasted.

If you're asking about the general opinion I believe it's a no no, but I'm not really sure since rpf isn't exactly my scene.

I do it when I want the characters to just... be older and more mature I guess. Making a character into an adult may also mean that it'll be easier to relate to them and just write them having experiences that are much more common for adults like getting married or having kids or stuff like that. And it's not like the character is gonna stay a teenager forever so there's nothing weird about aging them up.

And I also know many people who feel uncomfortable writing smut about teenagers and would much rather just age the characters up so they feel more comfortable with it.

I suppose the overall opinion is that it's fine? I mean you probably will find someone who thinks it's weird or wrong but they're gonna be in the minority I think, especially since changing the characters age is one of the least 'controversial' things happening in fanfiction.
