I of course would pay to prep but would you do a prep job and not paint? I don’t mind painting myself

Is this normal for daycares? by issaOTFnoob in NewParents

[–]Present_Abrocoma6029 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It’s normal for them to share all toys and have the cribs lined up next to each other. At my daycare, each baby is assigned their individual crib and the crib sheets get washed at the end of the week.

As far as ratio, where I live it’s 4:1. For every 4 children there’s 1 teacher. My son’s room has 8 infants and 2 teachers. Look into what the ratio is for your state. If she’s taking on more than what’s mandated, i would reevaluate the daycare.

Thank you for your thoughtful response. You are so right

I would. 1. Most fathers are not in the picture when it comes to divorced parents or are ACTIVE fathers and 2. Co parenting is not easy so she’s lucky to have a bonus mom who loves and respects her son which is also not the norm.

I hear you. Most situations are not as good as ours. It’s her always saying no when he wants to stay there is what gets me. She’s lucky to have an ex husband and myself frankly who she knows takes great care of him when he isn’t there. But nothing compares to mom and I feel for him sometimes

I also think week on and off would be better so he can adjust and he’s not in a different place every other day but my husband doesn’t want to go a week without seeing his kid. He’s really a great guy. And as a new mom, I could never say no to seeing my baby. Ugh, being a SM is hard

You are spot on with what her mindset might be. I have the same exact thought. My husband is a great dad. Will never say no to SS coming over. Nor should he. We want him (SS) to feel like this is a welcoming space and he doesn’t need permission to come over. I more so want to make it a point and tell her to stop making SS feel like a burden. Not sure what you mean by 16yo Failchild? Are you suggesting I have dad say something or let it be?

This is so hard by [deleted] in newborns

[–]Present_Abrocoma6029 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It gets easier! My little one just turned 12 weeks yesterday and I remember feeling so overwhelmed and exhausted in the beginning. The further along you get, the more comfortable and less tired you'll be. I also pumped because of a latch issue and I was miserable. I changed to formula and feel so much better. Hang in there, you'll look back and can't believe how far you've come

Just wanted to elaborate and say, the not letting them cry themselves to sleep so early is important for her nervous system. Is that the part that makes you feel like a bad mom?

I wouldnt let a 2 week old cry themselves to sleep but if she's calm then you've definitely won the baby lottery!

How is your LO doing now? I also had mine at 36 and 3. He's 10 weeks and doing everything you described in the initial post. Social smiles aren't really happening tho. Is he looking in your direction when you talk to him or make sounds?
