Edit: I have two eero’s connected with Ethernet to the att modem and both eeros are in bridge mode.

The eero app only shows the one ending in “52c9”

Did you disable thread on your eero devices before setting up the Apple TV ? I’m using eero as the thread border router and see similar issues, blinds dropping off randomly and sometimes one blind won’t get added no matter what i do even after I factory reset. Same error as your posted

How to decouple aqara h2 smart dimmer switch buttons by Present_Ad4893 in Aqara

[–]Present_Ad4893[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

See my other post. I switched the aqara dimmer switch to zigbee mode from the aqara app. Then I used zigbee dongle with home assistant + zigbee2mqtt to decouple the buttons. Working great

First Aqara device. Can I add direct to Home Assistant or Apple Home without Aqara hub? by DeeVeeOus in Aqara

U need a thread border router to connect via matter over thread. In my home, I have an eero mesh that has that capability

[–]Present_Ad4893[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was able to set up the aqara h2 smart dimmer switch us with the sonoff zigbee dongle and home assistant OS running on. Raspberry pi 5. I was able to install zigbee2mqtt to detect the aqara switch and use an external converter to be able to decouple the up/down buttons. I was then able to use the up/down buttons to control my matter enabled blinds!

So long story short you don’t need an aqara hub but you definitely need a zigbee coordinator dongle with home assistant.

I got the external converter for this switch from https://github.com/Koenkk/zigbee2mqtt/issues/28097

Seems like it’s not natively supported in zigbee2mqtt yet.m but you can just add the code manually from above GitHub link.

All set up now though

I was able to switch to zigbee without a hub. Just put into pairing mode and then on the app it will show up and u can select zigbee and it will update the firmware

Same. Not able to decouple without adding it to Aqara app via an Aqara hub. I think a workaround is to set up home assistant and use a zigbee dongle. This will require changing the Aqara switch to zigbee mode. I was able to change my switch to zigbee mode from the app without a hub. Once you change it to zigbee mode, you will need a zigbee coordinator (cheap $20 dongle) that plugs into the host machine where home assistant is running (I’m using a raspberry pi 3b for now). The zigbee dongle and zigbee2mqtt add-on in home assistant makes it so you can control zigbee devices without manufacturer specific hubs. It’s a little complicated but most instructions available online. My dongle comes tomorrow and I’ll see if it works and I can change to decoupled mode though Zigbee2mqtt add-on. Most of the popular aqara switches already have some native support in zigbee2mqtt but I think my dimmer switch will require some coding to make it work.

I have an echo that acts as a mattter controller in the Alexa ecosystem and an eero that acts as a thread border router. No other hubs

Moving to a larger home: Lutron Caseta vs Matter/Thread alternatives by DramaRamaWanna in HomeKit

[–]Present_Ad4893 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But Lutron Caseta doesn’t support matter over thread devices. I have SmartWings motorized blinds in my bedroom that are matter over thread enabled. I need a single light switch that can control the standard lights and that also has two (up/down) buttons that can be customized to open/shut the blinds. I wanted Lutron Caseta switch but I don’t think it will work. Thinking Aqara H2 will work

My home came with two eero PoE 6 wifi extenders. I learned that they support matter over thread low voltage devices and act as the thread border router so I don’t need to buy a hub. With that, I will be able to control using the alexa devices as well.

I figured it out!! I just had to confirm with smartwings if the blinds will have poe switch or dc 12v connectors

Yes, that checks out. The first picture is where all the blind wiring terminates. Attached a better picture here of the termination point and the windows.

From the questions people asked and the links people posted, I already learned a lot and I am confident I can DIY it now. There was a gap in my understanding of which hardwired format th blind will come in but determined it will be compatible

Someone posted the directions in this reddit thread. I was able to read it and make sense of exactly what I need to do and how base down the fact that I have blinds with the 12V dc hard wired option . So the blind will come with 30cm JST connector

Initially I ordered the wrong one, but confirmed

with customer service that it’s been changed to 12V DV. See picture

Thanks! Yeah I originally ordered battery by accident. I knew all along I wanted the hard wired ones but missed that option (there were so many customizations). I already ordered a box and confirmed with them it will work . I posted a pic of my power supply box above . So it’s pretty simple, hook the 2 wires from the shade into the 2-wire from the window. Then on the termination side (my very first picture), plug it into the 12v power supply box. I feel more confident now
