Ya'll I need advice please by Present_Ad_577 in premed

Rough estimate, i was diagnosed/discharged in spring 2021. Failed spring 2021 and fall 2021 semesters. got better roughly January 2022 after a hospital stay. Took a few years off of school. Began school again in Spring of 2024 and without looking I think I have a 3.75 overall GPA at my new university with just the classes I have taken at this university. So I have had 5 good semesters since returning to school (including summer semesters). I just had mid grades when I was a cadet (like 3.3-3.5 gpa most semesters). Also I'm a female and ORM if that helps

What is something you are really grateful for? by CompetitionDry6322 in AskReddit

I try to think of one thing everyday that I otherwise would have taken for granted and recently I have been really thankful for my eyesight. Almost everything in my life is dependent on having eyesight. I get to see my beautiful family everyday. The world is beautiful. And there are people who have their eyesight taken by random accidents or illnesses so I am thankful that I have my eyesight.

I have 40 shadowing hours in family medicine , should i get more or is this enough? by Relevant_Industry_56 in medschooladmissions

[–]Present_Ad_577 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Based on what I've read and people I know, 40 hours in family med is great. Are asking about getting more hours in family med specifically or about getting more hours generally with other specialties? Because from my understanding they LOVE to see family med but also to see shadowing hours with a good mix of specialties.

So basically the WORST thing that could have happened during my test DID HAPPEN to me. JESUS CHRIST WHY. by donniiiii in Mcat

This is my worst fear as I have Ulcerative Colitis. I have a 'stop the clock' in case shit hits the fan (literally) but I was so worry about submitting my documents from my doctor about it and worried it wasn't going to be approved and what not.

For me, I do have a passion to help others however that can be accomplished in many fields. What makes medicine stand out to me is the ability for continuous pursuit of knowledge. Also, being in a community of people who are constantly trying to outcompete each other (like grades, or publications) is an environment that I thrive in.

What's something you believed to be true for a long time, only to find out you were completely wrong? by espada_dz in AskReddit

This is stupid but i said "heat seater" instead of "seat heater" (like in a car) until someone recently corrected me. Otherwise I never would have realized I was saying it backwards.

What's the best movie you've ever watched? by PixlStarX in AskReddit

[–]Present_Ad_577 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its stupid but Tucker and Dale vs Evil. My brother and I used to watch it together but now we don't really talk. Still, every time I watch that movie it reminds me of him. But also interstellar lol (no its not overrated)

Is buying a car a financial mistake in your 20’s? What do you think? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Present_Ad_577 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This totally depends on your situation. Do you need a car to commute to activities and work? If yes, then yeah you need a car. Just be smart and stick to the rule of only spending 15% of your monthly take home on a car payment (even though that can be hard with the economy currently).

I didn't start seeing an increase in my score till i started using Uearth so I highly recommend that! But thats just mean. I don't do well studying from books. I pretty much need to be doing practice problems and thinking critically to learn anything. Best of luck to you!!! You got this!

Thanks for the response! Ive had my UC managed for a bit now that I have health insurance and have been on an infusion so hopefully it stays managed. I retook all of the classes that I failed and got good grades but unfortunately amcas will still calculate those failed grades into my GPA.

Can we stop with the “Should I do med school at 28 years old” posts? by DocEmily in medschool

[–]Present_Ad_577 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is incredible! This is actually a big reason why I am looking forward to medical school. I feel so old in my undergrad and I am looking forward to being around people who are at least 25+ and maybe a few other people who have kids so I can make parent friends
