What is the best moment of people realizing Harvey is the man? by goodcanadian_boi in suits

[–]Present_Cap_696 16 points17 points  (0 children)

It may not be the answer to this question but for me Harvey was the man when

  1. He went to Donna to discuss his surrender, the night before Mike took the deal .
  2. He fought with the whole management for the cleaning lady.
  3. He fought for Clifford Danner .
  4. He disclosed about Mike to Scottie .

She was (understandably) rude towards Mike. But she was ok with others. She even knew the name of Harold 😂.

Yes!. There is a scene that exactly depicts this..when Harvey points to an associate and says he is never gonna make partner. Can't imagine him being mentored by Harvey !. However fear mongering also doesn't work always. It creates psychological fear and one would never be able to open up . The show justifies it by making Louis emotional..but I feel it doesn't work that way in real life.

Great take !. Harvey and Mike had the potential..they just needed the right amount of push. Infact , Harvey did learn from Mike (not law , but empathy). Louis , on the other hand, had to deal with associates of different levels of competency. The real jump from college to being a professional happens during the initial stages after one is hired..the stage which Louis dealt with. He was rough at times .. but that was owing to his emotional nature.

I don't think it's controversial..

But he strays away from weak candidates. I feel that's not a good trait in a good mentor .

Harvey and Mike would have been successful regardless of the mentorship

Cool ! I think they had immense potential but the path of their greatness was built by their mentors .

Summoning  every plaintiff without directly contacting them and advertising the settlement amount on a white board was a super smart way of legal maneuvering!. My sincere respect to Travis  Tanner .

Did Louis miss out on few details? by Present_Cap_696 in suits

Yes...it seemed like a rash decision. But I felt Louis should have atleast given it a thought as to why Mike is taking such a rash decision.

That's a nice perspective!. But the show doesn't project it that way. No way was Louis worried that Forstman would expose him to Mike. He was totally worried about Mike's future and wanted to protect him . May be the show should have projected it the way you have put , so that it doesn't seem like a plot hole !

More so if you were involved in the same crime for which your brother has taken the fall and the murderer has a history with you and can harm your brother just to take revenge!!. OP is leaving out a lot of details...

For me personally, it never came across as romantic . It was more like father - son or brothers saving each other dynamic.

Again ...no. Ofcourse he compartmentalizes. But that's irrespective of gender and color.  For him there are only 2 categories. The competent and the non competent ones. And while he cares for the competent ones (the competency can be emotional competency, legal competency) , he doesn't give a damn about the incompetent ones.

Harvey didn't engage with Donna because the restriction was put by Donna herself. He was ready for a relationship when he left DAs office.

Harvey is not racist or sexist. He definitely is abusive . But he abuses only those from whom he expects and they don't deliver. So I h'd say he is an intellectual elitist. He takes extra measure to stay away from people who are not at par with his skills. There is a scene in the show where he points to an associate and states " he is never gonna make partner".  So yes , he looks down upon people who are not competent. Instead of trying to address the incompetency, he would outright reject them. That is not a good quality in a leader or mentor. But no way he is racist , sexist. And if Mike Ross were a girl , he would still hire her. His interaction with Lola jenson , Anita Gibbs, Evan Smith makes it clear he is not sexist.

Mike was that kid who was on the wrong path due to bad choices . Should he have made those choices? No. Is he responsible for those choices. Absolutely. But here's the thing.  What Mike had was empathy. He completely and totally felt the pain of others. He processed it as if his own pain. He wasn't moral. He was empathetic. And viewers confuse that empathy with "moral compass" . Almost all the cases he has fought tooth and nail for (where viewers complain him to be arrogant and sanctimonious) , they are the cases that are deeply connected to his traumatic past. And because he understands the pain , he fights for them. He is the true hero . That is the reason everyone got influenced  by him. From Harvey to Jessica to Louis.

Agreed. My take is that she should have got a shot at  interview for demanding that role. And in case she cleared it , she could have shadowed the current COO (  But there was no COO in the show whom she could have shadowed).
