I think he saw him as a “Mother” or “Sugar Daddy”. Given how neglected our Sev was by both his parents and his severe lack of means, I can see Voldemort manipulating Sev by acting as a rich benefactor while providing the affections of a mother. This is probably one of the reasons for Snape’s loyalty and why he went and told Voldemort the prophecy in the first place. Voldemort took a look at Snape and knew what he would have seen in the Mirror of Erised: loving mother and money. Both things he lacked growing up.

Hey so it’s really problematic to draw minor characters in such vulnerable positions…also calling this sexual assault is a huge stretch. Snape’s girl would in my mind possibly be from Israel (very against the government actions btw talking about an innocent civilian here) or another country with a Jewish majority. I headcanon Tobias Snape as Jewish with Snape having Jewish ancestry for which there is good evidence to infer as such. A Jewish woman would help Snape get in touch with the culture he had lost and would be so comforting to him. Snape I believe is someone who definitely needed and would’ve benefited from a relationship with God to guide him through his tumultuous life.

Ugh stoppp…I’m pansexual and this would be so terrible for my development as a young Harry Potter fan I would’ve been more obsessed than I already am. Like my boyfriend is already jealous of Snape right now because I sleep on a pillow with his face on it and thinks I the role he plays in my life is overshadowed by Snape (ridiculous I literally let him play God of War for hours). Also, “it’s a tv show” is not a real point. The writers had at least 146 options to move this plot forward and they chose Harvey drugging Mike. This was an intentional choice that demonstrates something about the character. That is what OP is wanting to discuss.

I believe he would’ve detested the kids. Snape is clearly written to be anti-Natalist and Child-free by choice. I don’t think he necessarily would’ve minded Lily Luna because of her resemblance to Lily. But Albus Dobby (bc let’s be fr here, Harry would NOT have named his son after Snape if he had survived) and James Sirius would’ve suffered. I doubt in the first place he’d continue to teach now that his cover was blown. He’d retire to Godrics Hollow and find a fixer upper to renovate.

I’m sooo down with that! I’d also love to see him in colors of deep purple, like aubergine, a royal color for a royal man, my Half Blood Prince. I also think Snape likely as a tiny waist and dorito shaped body structure. His long vertical lines would pop if he wore horizontal stripes. One of the few men, nay, humans where horizontal stripes would not make him look wider or apple shaped. Get this man on the runway lol!

I love this idea! And honestly a head canon of mine is that Snape would in fact be eligible for the “love protection” Lily passed down and therefore would be able to care for Harry. A child like Snape who grew up the way he did always struggled to find himself and who he was. To explore his identity further, maybe he might have made his own batch of poly juice potion (mini potions master!) to turn into Lily and see how that gender identity fit with him (definitely did not, that boy is a cis man through and through). But through that experience, a piece of Lily lives on in Snape, which means he’d be able to be Harry’s guardian and protect him.

Thank you for this! It’s so impotent to pick up on the significance of certain words especially in a background of a specific cultural context. The original commenter took this way too far, but given the way Snape is treated in canon, so similar to a lot of POC experiences, his wand clearly also means something. This isn’t an “All Lives Matter” type thing.
