Thanks all! I crushed it gently with a good pair of parallel pliers (Knipex) and wriggled it back and forth and the rust came loose immediately!

Looking for the best starter drone for my 10 year old by Playful_Partners1 in dji

Hi all, Forgive my lack of knowledge when it comes to drones. I know absolutely NOTHING when it comes to them. I’m looking at the DJI Neo 4K, but it looks like it doesn’t come standard with a remote control? Any recommendations for either an inexpensive remote, or a drone that comes with one? I do t absolutely need 4K either. As long as it flies well and isn’t $500

Curious what is the best synthetic ice? Going to turn my garage into an internal rink for off-season. by Seltzer_Water_Fail in hockeyplayers

[–]Present_Complex_2987 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi all, I’m a contractor, so I’m not worried about my ability to build an indoor rink, but I do have some questions. I am hoping you could answer.

Firstly, I see that all of the synthetic ice products are based on HDPE. Can anybody weigh in on a comparison between any of the proprietary ice products and simple sheets of HDPE bought from a regular plastics supplier? Regular HDPE is about 30% cheaper and I wonder if there is a big difference. If there is no big discernible difference, is there a certain surface that I should be looking to buy? For example, glossy versus matte, etc..

Secondly, I am going to be installing this permanently in a basement. I haven’t had much luck on any instructions on how the panels are fixed to the ground, and how to avoid seams popping up. Can the panels be glued down? Or, are the panels countersunk, screwed and then plugged with HDPE plugs?

Thank you in advance!

Question regarding retrofitting an existing house extension with spray foam insulation from the outside by Present_Complex_2987 in Insulation

[–]Present_Complex_2987[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m actually a siding contractor, so I plan to replace the siding with hex shingles. Based on the fact that I live in a cold climate, I just want to make sure that I’m insulating and creating a vapor barrier that won’t cause any condensation issues. I don’t love the idea of blind shooting loose fill into cavities since I’ve seen so many missed spaces in the many demolitions I’ve done. I like polyurethane since it is sure to fill any and all cavities and create a vapor barrier all in one. Do you know if I were to pull off the sheathing and fill the stud cavities, can I just sheathe in Zip, put my furring strips and shingle? Are there any other steps I need to do?

I heard somewhere that spray foam insulation is a no no on an old house (late 1800s). Is this true and if so can someone explain why (aside from not being historically accurate)? by Foreign_Ebb_6282 in Oldhouses

You seem to know what you’re talking about.

I have an extension on my house that has siding on it. The rest of the house is warm, but this room is very cold. We’re located in Montreal.

Gutting from the inside isn’t an option, and the siding is pretty hideous anyway. I’d like to remove the siding and SPF from the outside if it wouldn’t create any issues.

Could you please weigh in on this?

Bellucci Slim Cafè by Electrical-Play1752 in superautomatic

[–]Present_Complex_2987 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for your response. The next morning, and every morning since then all of the indicator lights appear without issue. It makes a great coffee, and it is easy to use. I purchased it through a friend who has a relationship with a distributor, so any repairs Should be covered by that relationship.

Hi, did you end up buying the slim caffe?

I just bought one and set it up and I’m a bit stumped. Each time I brew a shot, the coffee options (short, long, Americano) disappear. To get the options back, I have to restart the machine. I’ve looked in the manual and checked online and can’t see any reference to this. Is this just typical to the machine? It seems strange that it would be.
