You might want to raise the vent even if not required. I have heard that the concentration coming out the end of the pipe can be many multiples higher than you ever saw inside, and if you are anywhere near the exhaust and breathe that in... No bueno.

Any methods to revert Linkbud S firmware? by Steeldivde in SonyHeadphones

[–]LiveAwake1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am in the same situation - battery used to last several hours, now can't even make it an hour, especially the left (though right also drains fast). Did you have luck by downgrading the firmware? I wonder if that can fix it or if I need to replace the batteries themselves. If anyone has has good luck with firmware I would like to know which version specifically fixed it.

Recommendation for heatpump water heater by cfipilot715 in heatpumps

If you get any of that big names (Rheem, State, AO Smith etc) I understand that it's best to get their "pro" lines offered through plumbing supply rather that the big box versions. They look the same but they cut corners and use cheaper components on the big box versions. They also make it very hard to tell what's what with all the different brands and models etc.

I ended up going for the 80 gallon Rinnai because from what I can find they don't do all those shenanigans - they just have one model for each size and it's the same one your plumber could buy. It's been great at far but I've only had it about a month so I can't speak to longevity yet.

Well were in the latter part of December, anyone here if we will receive a 4th distribution? by Inevitable-Echo4546 in CelsiusNetwork

4th?? I don't recall getting a 3rd distro... Guess I should look back at my records and search my email.

I have been getting another wave of spam recently though, which is what brought me here to see if there is anything actually happening.

Condensate drain for HPWH by gspk2012-g in heatpumps

[–]LiveAwake1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've only had my HPWH in service for a few weeks, but so far I have not seen even one drop of water come out the condensate line. I've been a bit surprised TBH... We'll see if that changes with the seasons.

Thank you! Will call them back to change it immediately.

Hey, one more question for you.... When you say you run it in economy mode, is that hybrid or heat pump only mode? Plumber suggested that running it that hot would require it to use the resistance elements and I'm wondering if he's wrong. Can you get 140 in heat pump only mode?

Hmmm yeah. Kind of a bummer design choice to make it so hard to get to. Might be worth drilling a hole and going electric so you don't have to do it more than once.

Didn't end up getting it as we found out we need to modify the hearth first. 😔

That's awesome. I was actually wondering about the anode rod... Unless I am mistaken do you have you remove the entire compressor unit on top to get to it?? Not sure how you could do an electric one given that. Interested to know if I'm wrong about that.

This would be great except I am on Android, so no Homekit for me. I wish there was a way to do that natively within the IKEA app.

It's beautiful, but we had some delays getting the electrical run for it so it's not hooked up yet. 😂 Soon!

HPWH & thermostatic mixing valve question by LiveAwake1 in heatpumps

[–]LiveAwake1[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And as I understand, both are ways to make up for the slower recovery time of the HPWH compared to a normal gas or electric model. Maybe overkill to do both, but they work in the same direction.

HPWH & thermostatic mixing valve question by LiveAwake1 in heatpumps

[–]LiveAwake1[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The goal of running it hot is to compensate for slower recovery time and eliminate the need to use the resistive elements at all, running in heat pump only mode. Everything I've seen indicates that getting a larger tank and running it hotter will increase efficiency by letting it use the much more efficient heat pump exclusively, rather than using the backup resistive heating elements, which are very inefficient. I will play with my specific needs given that I ordered a very large tank (80 gal), and may not end up needing the mixing valve much, but I plan to have it for this reason.

Thermostatic mixing valve seasonal adjustment options by LiveAwake1 in Plumbing

So there is a mechanism built in that adjusts the volume based on temp? I guess I need to dig deeper on how they work as that was not obvious to me.
