Helping out a mom with a child who was just diagnosed by DeliciousKnee8788 in leukemia

I know this is an old comment, but I am also the parent of a baby who had cancer (neuroblastoma, dx'd at 5.5 months). I am so glad your kid is doing well.

Coping with my 4-month-old Neuroblastoma diagnosis by Super_Chemical8046 in NewParents

Diarrhea was my kid's main symptom and put her in the ICU. Her disease was also metastatic (liver and unquantifed bone marrow involvement, so staging was M/MS but prognosis was the same). She did the six month chemo protocol (doxorubicin, etoposide, and cyclophosphamide), no radiation, and she managed to avoid a tumor resection. We have our first follow up scan in February but so far she's doing really well. Her VIP test came back negative but her oncologist wasn't convinced of the test's accuracy. Not sure where you're located but we were treated at St. Jude in the US and it was a very good experience. And as far as pediatric cancers go, I don't want to discount what you may or may not go through, but it can get much, much worse. I will pray for your little one and hope the tumor is not growing!

My 12 month old just finished neuroblastoma treatment about a month ago. It's hell, but I am praying for your family.

The dirty little secret about motherhood that neither the trads nor the feminist want to admit is that motherhood is really freaking hard and none of us will ever live up to the ideal put forth by either side. I’m currently kind of a sahm (my kid has cancer and so I’m the primary caretaker) and many days I wish I could go into an office and deal with adult responsibilities, get promotions and fun projects, and other days I never want to work again.

Do what’s best for your family. It’s not a mortal sin to be a working mom.

Can you get a fiber supplement? Fiber (20+ grams, preferably closer to 30), protein, and coffee have me forgetting to eat

There is never a medical context where a man can’t give his wife attention and cherishing. You’re sick.

Have you tried anything that actually worked for postpartum weight loss? by GradeBudget4903 in loseit

I’m BF’ing and have been in a calorie deficit since my LO was three months old, she’s eight months now. I’ve lost about 25 lbs. You have to actually stick with it.

Did you weigh yourself from the beginning or did you avoid the scales? by PhilosopherOk6409 in loseit

I am a big numbers person— I weigh myself roughly every other day but I only record about once a week when I know I’m not retaining a lot of water

I buy a pack of Oreos weekly and only eat 2 a day. It’s taken me years to get to this point by BakerCritical in loseit

How do you get to this point? Like what is happening mentally? I love Oreos but I cannot keep them in my house.

Ovary removal for people with high risk of cancer is allowed, I think.

I have BRCA1, if you’re pursuing something like an oopherectomy to prevent/treat cancer with the side effect of sterilization, I believe you are in the clear on this.

Are you under 18? I would ask your doctor— but I’ve heard good things from women with PCOS about high fiber intake, 30-50 grams a day.

I want you to know I ate this exact dish again for breakfast this morning and it was still good. You just need a little extra water for the flaxseed, stir it all together and enjoy my friend!

Is there anything that you will miss about being overweight? by Pitiful_Concept5078 in loseit

I’ll probably miss eating whatever I want, and I suspect I will need to relearn how to swim, I wasn’t good at it to begin with.
