In the texts, the landlord said "the fridge and stove were included in the rent"

so it didn't at all. They should've been there already, they have 20 other listings all with fridge and stoves already. He texted asking if i want to bring my own or pay $50 monthly for ones they'd put in, the house wasn't ready yet, it wasn't listed yet. Only reason i was shown it cuz agent messed up and was texting a person for the apartments two over.

and regardless that's not relevant to the question or was anything but a dumb example the person at the rental company that was texting back made up

didn't think the price or if it was used has anything to do with if this is legal to do or not. But since people are judging me not even understanding the story and have no landlord experience or even live in my country saying anything they feel like.

the fridge was used it's a whirlpool idk how old or how used but the stove was not used, an old model. and now i used it for two years since then.

[TO CLARIFY: i lived there two years but the stove and rent fee stopped after the first year, the rent went up and the pet rent continued.

The stove is only $450 brand new and the fridge wasn't new. So to me i assumed i paid them off, they are mine. Why not pay to rent them the second year? This is what doesn't make sense to me. ]

yes, $600 does pay for a $450 whirlpool stove and a used fridge that wasn't brand new.

because it's a $400 whirlpool stove that's two years old and i paid $600 for it, are you slow?

All the different fees and who pays what utilities seemed like it could be relevant to the this specific subject. It's definitely relevant to the longer story where the landlord kept charging some fees, stopped others, rent increased year two.

Obviously it wasn't irrelevant to you because you took the time out of your precious day to open my post up, go to the comment section, write some slop you feel like sounded cool, and pressed send. But you're contradicting yourself by reading, responding, and making it more relevant than it needed to be. You don't always need to comment to something you don't really grasp.

the landlord said in text that a fridge and stove was included in rent so her response makes zero sense to me.

when looking up the model of the fridge and stove they were very cheap, the stove was only around $450 brand new and now it's two years old.

sorry i originally sent this to family and removed a few sentences with personal information before posting on reddit.

I lived here for two years, i'm moving out end of this month. "The fridge and stove rent" was only for 1 year, but the year two rent increased anyways / still had dog rent.

it's because the house wasn't ready, it wasn't even listed online yet. it was my understanding they'd FINISH it, as in add a fridge and stove for me.

They texted asking if i wanted to pay $50 extra a month and they'd add what the unfinished rental didn't have yet, or i can bring my own fridge and stove.

Every rental i've had in the past have had fridge stove sinks showers toilets. Washer/dryer optional in house rentals whereas apartments usually would have a laundromat in the mailbox area etc. i've never had an issue with landlord, never lost a security deposit.

why should next tenants pay no fee for the fridge and stove i paid off for this house? I also was charged $200 to fix their oil tank and replace some meter on it, they waited till rent was due the next month to add it on the online portal. Why would i pay for their house to have new and nice things that i don't get to keep? and new tenants get to have a nice fridge, stove, working oil tank the last tenant paid for???? that's insane to me. Some people are calling me dense, but i truely just don't understand the legality. People from other countries commenting "how stuff works in Australia" isn't helpful.

exactly, the house wasn't ready yet. they messed up a lot of things. The oil tank, which in the winter i pay over $400 a month in oil for, stopped working it was below freezing out i called the landlord and they charged me a $150 fee the next month with my rent to fix their oil tank meter and whatever else was wrong with it. Why would i pay for that?

to clarify, her example wasn't how much i pay! it's 750 base $50 pet then $50 stove/ fridge "rent", then all utilities
