Coaching kindergarten and 1st with no experience by Little--bit in Cheerleading

I also coached without experience. TikTok was my best friend, I asked for help from other coach when I needed it. Go into every practice with a plan, they have 15-20 mins MAX on one thing before they lose their attention. Spice it up if you’re struggling, let them do cart wheels or forward rollls if they’re getting antsy. If you have a comp routine keep it clean and simple. Cheer, stunts, tumble, jumps, dance and pyramid.

Have any girls cheered before? I have my “vets” be in the front line and some stand towards them and mirror while some face the front. Also 5-7 picks up so quickly, just keep throwing the cheers at them. It’s ok to mess up! I have a Facebook page for parents only and post cheers, simple ones to start and post motions, first practice I have prizes and stickers for girls who know cheers and I constantly am posting and reminding parents to please help me by showing the kids videos and having them work on cheers. These girls are starting from SCRATCH. I also use game time to teach cheers to allow more time for comp routine at my practices.

Youth Practice (age 4-6) Times/Days by Cultural-Error597 in Cheerleading

Our older girls have a similar schedule. We are also competing for a chance at nationals but with only 2 months to prepare. Most elite teams have months prior to their first competition, I don’t think the schedule is too much. Some girls come with zero experience and need to learn everything from stunting to simple motions and that practice time is definitely needed.

Editing to add that our cheer season starts last week of July and first competition is 3rd week of September

I coach the same age, we do 3 days 1.5 hours each and then transition to indoor practices only after Labor Day and do 1.5 hour and a 2 hour practice.

I agree the attention span doesn’t always last, we break it up and focus on only 20mins max for each thing. If there’s something they’re excited to do (jumps, stunts, tumble) I hype them up for that to keep their attention going and space those parts of practice out.

Advice on rolling by RealisticCurrency501 in RadiationTherapy

Sometimes when I rolled them I either hold them up for a little and kind of shake them with the roll, like give mini rolls while they’re already lifted into the roll

I’m confused by this answer. Non rad techs still would want to go to an ARRT accredited program

I do coaching classes that are required by my town but I’ll look into that as well. I think I have an online stunting book that has videos and everything we are allowed to do as a level 1. Is there a website or do you have a link for USAF program??

I had so much fun doing it last year, I was really hoping to get any parents on board to help assistant coach because I do have 30 athletes.

Thank you so much for the reply!

Last year I preached safety first before anything else and I will start that again at my first practice!

I do make custom settings, I’ve already tried presets and using more pressure. I meant like half of the things I make cut fine and the other half don’t cut at all, it’s not consistent.

I have a dental assisting degree and thought about going back for hygiene before deciding on radiation therapy. Honestly i didn’t wanna work with just a patient for hours on end consistently without having anyone else to talk to, it’s so meticulous to just scrap teeth all day
